Just an idea I had for a new level type/theme (Such as Aurora Isle, Candlestick Keep, Compound, etc.)

The idea, as you probably already guessed from the name, is that it would consist mainly
of dusty/deserty levels. For the most part, they would be brightly lit and have an artificial sky,
much like the Aurora Isles. For decoration they could have small rocks, spiraling cacti, and
stuff like that. There would be bushes, but they would look brown and shriveled up. Dust
bunnies could also be found here, although they wouldn't be as swarmy as in the compound
levels. Gremlins, constructs and beasts would be common, although slimes won't appear
very often, due to how dry these levels are. Aside from the usuals from those monster
groups, some new monsters might show up here as well.

Ghiloid

Family: Beast

Appearance: Like a chromalisk, colored to look like a ghila monster.

Description: They are a new type of chromalisk native to Scorching Sandpits.
They have the same ammount of health as any other chromalisks. They attack
by spitting out a ball of dust, which breaks on impact with the ground, doing
minor damage and stunning knights over a radius of about 1 and a half squares.
Does normal damage.

Cactrode

Family: Construct

Appearance: Like a retrode, but with a more greenish tint and a small
cactus for one arm instead of a stick.

Description: A new type of retrode favored by gremlins in dry regions. Their
normal slash attack now deals piercing instead of normal damage due to the
stick being replaced with a cactus. Instead of shooting a laser, it slings vicious
thorns; the number of thorns depends on tier.

Gremlin ranger

Family: Gremlin

Appearance: About the size of a gremlin thwacker. Wears cowboy attire.

Description: A gremlin addapted to the desert. He will run around, shooting
weak piercing bullets while trying to keep his distance, but will punch the player
if they get too close, dealing moderate normal damage, stun, and minor
knockback.

Antlion

Family: Beast

Appearance: Looks sort of like a big spiny, armored grub.

Description: A monster unique to the Scorching Sandpit regions. It has a fair
ammount of health and functions as a beast "turret". It throws globs of sand
in rapid, 5-shot bursts, dealing moderate normal damage and potentially stunning
the target. However, it also has a tongue attack which reaches about 5 squares
and does no damage, but pulls the player in closer. If it manages to get the
player close enough, it will perform a bite, which does moderate piercing damage,
stuns, and knocks the player away.

I like the idea, but... What Beasts would thrive in a Desert-like level?

Seems like it's opening the path for more interesting beast monsters to be implemented.

Cactus monsters?
Vulture creatures?
I'm also thinking of a big, heavily armored scaled creater that looks not unlike Ryhorn/Rhydon.

I've always wanted a desert-themed level set, as well as more beast family monsters. The antlion sounds awesome (I don't get the name though).

@Skye-Lightning: I am a man

@Skye-Lightning: I am a man of many names, including the Magical Bush, sheep lover, dragon mage, and probably others that have slipped my mind. Beep boop walla walla.

@Kimahsonite: The antlion is an actual insect that lives in the desert, or desert-y type places anyways. It makes a cone shaped pit in the sand, and burrows to just underneath the pit to grab any prey that are unfortunate enough to fall into the pit. Neat little things, but they are ugly as heck. Another neat enemy could be something similar to a bobbit worm. There are some strange things on our little Earth, aren't there?
