Thats actually a good point. We need to do that... remove him before he can get rid of the artifact. Change history...
Though I suppose when I was new there was no artifact for me to give away, so theoretically, I just have this massive plot gap in my head.

There's nothing that could spike the damage large enough for him to poof before the cutscene (he heals 20 hp per x seconds).
