I think that non-status weapons should only do the same damage as their status dealing counterparts, but they should have a chance to critical instead of a status. Status swords almost never inflict the status, with the exception of brandishes, due to lack of charge usage. In the very least, we could cut back on the damage basic swords deal and give them a "critical" ability that inflicts bonus damage as often as other swords inflict statues.

Yes. Or maybe we could just give non-Brandish status swords a higher chance to inflict their status and stuff would be balanced. I believe that the Troika swords, the Fausts, and FoV don't need their statuses buffed, either, which basically leaves us with buffing the status Flourishes and DVS. DVS is very well balanced as it is, in my opinion, with a combo that lands on roughly 1250 damage on anything provided enough damage increase is brought. The poison chance is bad but as long as WHB isn't getting a buff, I think it's fine because WHB would be left behind if DVS were to get a buff but WHB wouldn't.
So that leads us to only buffing the status Flourishes, provided you agree with me.
The point is that few of the status swords need a buff and a buff of them wouldn't have to be counterbalanced by a buff of their non-status counterparts as they, too, are quite OP. Doing this would perhaps make swords more balanced but a lot of status swords really don't need a buff so that'd just make those swords more OP in comparison and swords in general would be even more OP.
