Because why not?

Alchemy line
The Grappletech Alchemer starts like any other Alchemer on 2* and goes as follows:

  • 2*: Grappletech Alchemer
  • 3*: Grappletech Alchemer Mk II
  • 4*: Grapple Driver
  • 5*: Tractor Driver

Yes, I'm aware that the last one sounds like something else. Got a better name idea?

Stats
The Grappletech Alchemer line shares attributes with other Alchemers. Speed and clip size remains the same and so does charge time. The one attribute not shared is damage. Not only is it normal damage, but it shares damage with the Antigua line. For example, say Argent Peacemaker deals 47 damage against a Gorgo somewhere in the Clockworks. On the same depth with the same damage bonuses, the Tractor Driver would deal the same damage. This means that in the end, the Tractor driver will not be usable as a tool for dealing any major damage. It shines with its functionality which I shall now describe.

Functionality
This would be where Grappletech gets interesting. Remember how I named it Grappletech? You could also call it the new Volcanic Pepperbox. VPB was really cool once. Instead of knockback, it had... Knockforward? Your enemies would go towards you rather than away from you when you shot them, anyway. That's the idea of the Grappletech.

Regular bullets:
These remain the same in all incarnations of the Grappletech, except for the damage and knockback. They're really just any Alchemer bullet but instead of a status or high damage, they've got reversed knockback. The reversed knockback should be as follows:

  • 2*: 1v
  • 3*: 1.33v
  • 4*: 1.66v
  • 5*: 2v

What's a v, you might ask. That'd be the Knockback of Valiance, i.e. Valiance does 1v knockback.

Charge attack:
This one differs from star level to star level so I'll just list them individually.

  • 2*: It's just a somewhat bigger bullet that functions like the other 2* Alchemer charges, but instead of splitting, it results in 3-4v something reversed knockback.
  • 3*: Same as 2*, but the bullet now knocks enemies down.
  • 4*: Same as 3*, but the bullet now goes straight through enemies and always disappears at the same distance.
  • 5*: Same as 4*, but the bullet now slows down until it starts going backwards. When it starts going back, the knockback will still be towards the player but it will instead be something around 1-2v. It will knock enemies down again.

Sounds nice

A gun that drags enemies towards you on each shot... Wolver trying to run away from me? I don't think so *pulls out Grappletech and shoots, then switches to Final Flourish and slashes the beast to death*. Nice gun for sword users when fighting quick and/or runaway monsters.

I do have something to say about the gun. It doesn't seem like an alchemer class gun. It sounds more like a new kind of gun. Might as well give it it's own line.

The gun also seems like it should do either normal or pierce damage.

But from all the guns, why an alchemer? Alchemers bounce and split.

It could be a variant from the Valiance. It's the only 'cobalt' weapon without an extra path.

@Sentinel

I wouldn't make it a specialised handgun simply because it'd be undesirable for the devs to make it seem better for one kind of enemy than another.

The reason I suggested Alchemer to begin with was that the idea I initially had was that the bullet would, upon impact, split into two bullets that'd go around the enemy and hit it in the back. I improved the idea as I wrote it and didn't quite change it accordingly.

@Juances
What differs the Alchemers from the Blasters in funcionality, apart from the charge which is irrelevant, is the clip size and bullet speed. I'd find it more reasonable to put the new functionality described on an Alchemer rather than a Blaster, simply because they wouldn't quite be very equal utility guns. I dare not call Valiance an offensive gun.

It seems like a good idea.

It seems like a good idea. I'd love to be able to draw those evasive menders and mortafires
a bit closer instead of farther a lot of times. And the Tractor Driver should use a model that looks
like a mechanical fat redneck wearing a cap. For the lulz.
