First let me give you some backstory.

When I was a 4* guy, stuck on those rank 8-1 missions, I used to do full Tier 3 runs down to the core for crowns, while avoiding the FSC gate. At the terminal, I saw in Basil's stock, the beautiful Crest of Almire, I didn't really consider it back then, but it's dang useful now that I have it, Like every 2/3 runs if I had to guess

Now, 2 weeks ago, I finally decided to upgrade my Blackened Crest, So I went on Tier 3 recipe runs, and bought CE with Crowns to keep myself up.

Out of those 2 weeks, I did not, repeat: DID NOT see any sign of it in the terminal whatsoever! I got more and more mad the more I didn't see it in that troll they call Basil's backpack. Now, yesterday, I went full rage and bought it from the Auction House.

So this just begs the question: Why the sudden Karma? I asked countless questions to take advantage of Basil's list, "Does it depend on the gate? What levels are in the gate? The gate location slot? The stratum?" Etc. Now every time I look at my Crest of Almire, I get that feeling of dread and upset... Why?
Why would you do this to me?

I had the same problem bro, when crafting my Kilowatt. Basil wouldn't cough it up, and I was prepared to stab him.

Luckily, though, there was a cheap price on the AH, I immediately bought it :3

To be honest,

I preferred it when pestering Basil was the only method to gain higher-tier recipes. Sure, it took a bit of extra effort but it felt good when you finally found the recipe you needed. At least they didn't render the guy obsolete but he's pretty close to being obsolete, only preserving token recipes and the final line of breaker-armour as his sole exclusive stock - the lower tiers can be acquired from Vatel for no effort other than checking by once a day. The Hall of Heroes made things more convenient and probably helped us more than it did harm, but as a result made acquiring new gear much less exciting.

Now watch.

One time during those 2 weeks, He had the Divine Avenger and I was dumb enough to get it, now I'm gonna be aiming for Gran Faust and Polaris soon and he won't have them. Mark my words. I'm gonna put on my Seerus Mask, Charge my Blitz Needle, And shove it up Basil's...........................

This is how I see it;

At least you have it now, so you won't have to worry about getting it again in the future. Maybe it's just because I'm a collector that I think this way, but so long as I gain something from it - even if it isn't necessarily what I'm looking for - if I can find a use for it later I won't feel as bothered about it. Maybe you'll want that Divine Avenger later on and you'd be thankful that it conveniently appeared in front of you even if you weren't specifically looking for it at the time.

Besides, I don't see how you're dumb for grabbing it when it's there, so long as you didn't run across the other recipes you were looking for when you didn't have the money for it. If that were the case I'd see how you'd be frustrated but from what I can tell this really isn't the case because, as you've said, those recipes haven't appeared before you yet.
