I recently started playing SK again after taking a break (around the time the mini-monsters were released).
I noticed that the Left shift is used as part of the dash and shield bash controls, but left shift cannot be used by itself
Is there a reason for this? I thought that a lot of players used left shift as their shield button

On the options there's a bind for modifier keys. Remove L shift and bind another key to it.
