Say you have a lvl 10 Avenger. You reset it to zero heat at an NPC. It becomes "Avenger +1".
It wouldn't do anything else. No extra bonuses. Only to show off how much you use it.
Like prestige, for your gear.

It gives you that satisfying feeling when you level up a piece of equipment.
I know it's useless, I don't even do prestige missions anymore.
But some people still care and it's an excuse for "what to do with excess heat" threads.
Found a problem with the idea -- would the heat be distributed to new, unheated gear first and then the maxed gear or be distributed evenly?
Hmmm.... you wouldn't want to reset your sword if you're still heating something else.
It's up to the moustached jelly to decide how complex the heat redistribution will be.
I would honestly appreciate any other use for heat besides just leveling up your gear and wasting the rest. But honestly I think my idea may be a bit more useful:
prestige does nothing, so you want to make more of it?
