Normally, I'd say that banning someone for having the name of a modern-day dictator of a totalitarian regime equal parts over-the-top hilarious and soul-crushingly oppressive would just be a stupid case of over-sensitivity. To a western audience, or at least to me, naming yourself after Kimmy Jung Il is pretty funny.

Keeping that in mind, why get banned for it - who could possibly take offense to this? Off the top of my head, South Koreans - The guys who live next to the lunatic (and now is equally loony son) and are still technically at war with them (since the hostilities never ended between the two when every other nation got the Hell out of Korea after the war). To note, South Korea is also fertile ground for most MMOS, and since OOO is in the MMO business they are also probably very concerned over getting an audience in "Good" Korea.

So I'm curious if anyone at OOO really got miffed at this, or if they are just trying to tread lightly to get good reception in So. Korean markets.

Now you guys might hate me for this, but at one time, when I was new to SK, my brother and I wanted to make an alt with a funny name. So we though what would be a funny or at least out of the ordinary? We came up with a knight called "Gay-Knight". Yeah, I know. We even made the prime color pink. We didn't act like gays, just looked it. Later on, OOO caught on, and renamed the knight "Joyful-Knight". Didn't get banned, but the fact that OOO changed the name, means that they are watching out for stuff like this. Now I never meant to disrespect the gay community. It wasn't my intention, I just though a knight named that way was cool and funny at the time.

Are you SURE your alt was banned because of an offensive name? A two day ban doesn't seem to correlate with the repercussions of an offensive name.

My point being, if the name was offensive then, it should still be offensive two days later.

Seems to me that maybe you were banned because of offensive jokes pertaining to the name, not the name itself.

I'm aware of what happens when you get banned. Perhaps you misunderstood the message.

Again, my point is you aren't going to get a two day ban from JUST the name being offensive. The name will still be offensive two days later (if it's offensive obviously), will it not? So what is the point of a temporary ban?

The question is, what if that's their real name?

Because you can't be racist towards Asians...Let's face it, Kim Il Sung is a caricature more than Obama or Hilary would ever be. But you do have to know the roots of why they shouldn't just be a physical caricature. They've fought against western imperialism. Meanwhile, a guy named alphamalej asked if I could get bad word, and he claims he does MMA 6 days a week, but he didn't care of Karo Parisyan didn't work out, so the guy didn't know anything about MMA. I'll never get to know if that guy got temp-banned cause I reported him during our convo. Could be a stalker from here, gamefaqs, or yahoo answers, the guy said he was going to leave me and stalk me in real life, what a joke. Why do white gamers expect to do anti-Asian stuff like that And I'm surprised gamefa*s posters here are talking a lot of crap towards me still. Man up and say that to me in person.

Just succumb to the fact that you are racist(being less PC will also do; or form a third group that blends the statements of white supremacist groups into this neo social liberal group, one that views Asians as the inferior but will make jokes out of to make it seem like we're equal). Every time I think of a gamer now or if I see one at a convention(if I ever do go to one), I can't help but want to mess up that smirk on his face, or that Sam Hyde guy trolling a convention in the inconvenient Anime skit looking like some anime nerd or Nostalgic Critic guy himself who does some weird stand up [scrap] spouting white world problems like we were at a KKK rally or how Asians are inferior like he means it. Sure you can say all races are racist, but one group does not spend every living breathing moment thinking of the next racist thing to say in the comfort of his own home. It's a shame that non-Asians are adopting this white practice now. Such a shame that two wrongs don't make a right, but being a doormat in a zero-sum game, I'd take the former.
