Greetings!
This week's discussion is centered on that which you can purchase from Brinks for Almirian Seals: the Fang of Vog, Ancient Plate Helm, Ancient Plate Mail, Ancient Plate Shield, and Blackened Crest/Crest of Almire.
"Wait," you say. "Haven't we talked about some of these before?" And the answer is yes. "Are you going to talk about them again?" Yes, we'll mention them. We won't go into full detail, but they're part of the discussion. The emphasis will be away from the shields, since we've spent significant time on those previously.
SO!
Is there ever a time when you should use this gear over anything else?
Sleep vulnerability? Seriously?
How much of a deterrent are the attack speed and movement speed penalties?
Fang of Vog: novelty weapon or viable combat option?
Describe the gear in five words!
Have fun!
There's really no reason to use Ancient Plate gear over anything else, the attack speed penalty just isn't worth it. Of course, if they ever make a mission completely consisting out of Trojans and other enemies that deal pure normal, then it's somewhat viable.
The sleep vulnerability is there for a good reason. They want us to discredit it further, so the slooms can one day return and enact their revenge upon us.
The movement speed decrease is negligible, you won't really notice it unless you're running right next to another knight. The attack speed decrease on the other hand, is a big deal. Sure, it can be countered with UV's, trinkets, and the Swifty, but why bother at that point?
A novelty weapon with some minor combat viability. It's essentially an inferior, riskier version of the Combuster, with a Calibur-style charge attack. The chance to have the charge backfire on you doesn't make it even remotely worth using, and its DPS is terrible compared to other normal/elemental or pure elemental weapons.
This gear is flippin' Terribru.
P.S. It's Almirian, not Almerian. (inb4someonecallsmeagrammarnazi)
