Shouldn't Acheron really have higher damage?

It's OP enough as it is, really, so I don't support it but if we look at the alchemer counterpart, it has higher damage than the status alchemers. Likewise, we can look at other things. Should there be a non-status elemental Brandish (no there shouldn't be, I don't have the cash for another CTR med Brandish and gods it'd be too op)?

I also had the idea of a non-status haze bomb some while ago. If we observe guardian shields in Lockdown, we can see how haze bomb work. They deal no damage but have a chance to inflict status about as often as possible. Instead of taking a shot on a status, I guess damage hazes would just deal damage without any RNG involved. I believe Zeddy wrote about a shadow non-status haze bomb in "I can design a better anti-gremlin bomb with my face tied behind my back", actually.

To be honest, the only idea I liked out of these would be the elemental damaging haze bomb because bombers really need more elemental weapons. Deadly Crystal Bomb is the only one at the moment.

How do you guys think consistency would affect the game?

No need. It's already more powerful than voledge and glacius against their neutral targets.

That's because you're trying to solve it with a buff. You could have suggested a damage nerf to the elemental brandishes instead....

Nerfs are boring. I don't see a problem here, anyway, apart from Brandishes being blatantly overpowered, I'm just wondering what people would think about consistency.

Elemental brandishes are the ones which should get a damage nerf. Nobody cares that you think 'nerfs are boring'.

Yes, but why is it that they should be nerfed? Because everything else is underpowered? Or is it because they are overpowered? Everything is relative. I'd be happier seeing buffs to hipster gear than having Brandishes be nerfed. Let's make an example:

There are three kinds of weapons with many variations in the three weapon classes. Two are overpowered and one is severely broken. They are:

  • Brandishes
  • Alchemers
  • Shard bombs

All three get immense power from multihitting except that shard bombs would be pretty nice if they did so they got a hit limit. Brandishes and Alchemers didn't. If we were to fix this balance issue, which would be the most fun?

  • Introducing a hit limit to them so that Combuster would suffer heavily while the nerf wouldn't affect Voltedge as much and even less so Glacius because the two often lock your enemies so that they can't take damage from all the explosions and having Alchemer charges be completely broken because any accidental internal ricochet would obsolete more than half of the damage that should've been inflicted as the bullets would be stuck in an enemy that can't take damage after a few of those?
  • Removing the hit limit on shard bombs, making them much more easy to use so that others than Zeddy and Qwote could learn how to use them without punching straight through their monitor when the hit limit kicks in and breaks it all completely?

I am certain that there are several people who agree when I say that nerfs are boring and buffs are fun. The important thing is no matter that balance is kept between items and OOO has sadly failed quite severely here.

Shadow damage is a status effect. Kind of.

But like Zeddy said, its on par with the others just because it doesn't stop enemies when they get hit.

That is correct. On the other hand, if we don't consider damage types we will find that Combuster is superior to Acheron due to the fire.

seems like DR has a hit limit

CTR max, DB VH Dark Retribution + CTR med Dark Retribution in C42, we spammed DR like hell to ambush the last gremlin flamethower miniboss. Didn't die, over half health, the heck?
