Something simple is that allow profiles to be saved and applied in the Custom Control tab. I made a heavy adjustment to my Control Scheme for my Gamepad and I'd rather just be able to load it than having to rebind everything over and over if I ever want to instantly switch from a Gunner back to my Basic Keybind.

Use registry backups. I find they help a lot. Although they can't be switched "on the fly" I don't think, you might need to restart Spiral Knights whenever you switch schemes.

Well technically

If you had a keyboard like mine (http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-keyboards-keypads/razer-blackwidow-2013/) you could do some clever stuff with profile switching and keybinds, but barring that adding a system like this would be much easier and more accessible to everyone.

But the thing is, what other game has switchable control schemes? I can't name any, and I think the reason why is because it's just not necessary to switch control schemes all the time.

So if this game is unique in that sense, doesn't it make sense to design an in-game way to deal with it?
