Crown gains on Ghosts in the Machine?

So a friend of mine tagged along for a duo run through a danger mission today, Ghosts in the Machine. It was one of the most intense and team work dependent missions and we enjoyed the hell out of it. I even took the heat on the final room to level up my 2-star handguns. However, here's the thing. I started the mission because this table[http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Lancer_Knightz_(Guild)/Missions] mentioned we'd be gaining 3k crowns from the full run. So I was a bit annoyed that we both gathered 1.7k each. We collected everything, smashed every smashable aside from one treasure room(contained like.. 3 chests?) we locked ourselves out of.

What happened? Are crown gains nerfed? Did they split because we were a party? Did we need more players in the party? Selling some Valuable mats? Is the table outdated? Vat?

Yes I did read from the crowns column and not the total column. Again, I'm not whining or anything, I REALLY enjoyed the mission. But I'm just curious.

It says "on average" in the description on that page. It doesn't always mean you'll get that ammount. Also you will get more CR if you play with a full party instead of just 2 people.

So if you play with less people you will get less crowns.

Thank you Glitched.

Ah thanks. I know it was on average, I just didn't expect that low of a crown gain. :/

I'm not 100% sure but I think there are different maps for GitM. One time I went there were Lost Souls and the mist field blocking the spawn point was North. The second time I went there were no Lost Souls and the mist field was East.

It's because you are Tier 2 (I assume.)

GitM always gives no less than 2800 cr in T3. But that amount is different for T2, since it has lower payouts. And the amount of crowns increases with the number of party members, but NOT THAT MUCH.

you guys were doing Tier 2 right? I think the numbers on the page are for Tier 3. That amount of payout is normal for Tier 2

@Toah

I'm unsure. How would I know? I remember it saying depth 9 so I'm assuming Tier 2. If that's the case, how would I switch to tier 3? Or do I still have to do some more missions(rank 4-1 I think right now, both of us. We both had 5* gear equipped.)

AND, before someone comments about this, I did google search.

explaining the data

I didn't collect these data, but I'm familiar with the Lancer Knightz project, so maybe I can help decode the data for you. If you view the wiki markup (by editing the page, but not actually making any edits), then you will see the individual raw crown payouts:

3072, 2878, 2750, 3670, 3039, 3533, 3397

So 1,700 crowns is indeed really low. The data are from Tier 3, which takes place on depths 24 and 25. If you were doing the Tier 2 version, then you were on depths 14 and 15, or something like that. Anyway, you can tell from the depth.

The average raw crown payout on Tier 3 is 3,191. On average, you also get 5 sparks, which are worth 100 crowns each. That's how you get up to a total payout of 3,691 crowns.

Edit: Also, these data have been added to the wiki page in an ongoing fashion and quite recently. So, unless Lancer Knightz is doling out data slowly for some reason, they're probably adding the data as they get them, and the data are current.

Alright. Thank you very much, you're always a delight to see posting. Just a thing since neither the wiki nor a google search would clarify, how would I go on a Tier 3 danger mission?

hmm

how would I go on a Tier 3 danger mission?

I'm not an expert, but it's determined by your rank somehow. Probably, if you have Tier-3 clearance, then you automatically go to the Tier-3 danger missions. If you have only Tier-2 clearance, then you automatically go to the Tier-2 versions.

You can do the other version by joining a party that's about to start that version. That's all I know.

ooh I actually have useful information for once

Prestige/danger mission level is determined by mission rank. Each star level you are, you get a new danger mission, so if you are 2* you get stratum 3, 3* is stratum 4, etc. So the answer is: get grinding! :D

Prestige missions differ by

Prestige missions differ by your knight's rank. That means you won't get prestige from a run where the lobby is started by a Defender when you are a Vanguard, for example, as you didn't do the one on the right depths.

I have a feeling you did the stratum 3 gitm. I do the stratum 4 version frequently and typically get as much or more than I do in the stratum 6 version. Actually, I have found that I earn more crowns in stratum 4 prestige missions than stratum 6 missions most of the time. A friend of mine was very upset yesterday because the tier 2 version of white collar captives paid about 2200 and the tier 3 version paid 1400 or so. I think you will discover that the second stratum of a tier will always pay drastically more though. The fact you used 2 star guns really make me think you did stratum 3.

There is 3 Tiers. Each tier

There is 3 Tiers. Each tier -2 strata

Tier1 Stratum1 - depth 0-3
Tier1 Stratum2 - depth 4-7
Tier2 Stratum3 - depth 8-12
Tier2 Stratum4 - depth 13-17
Tier3 Stratum5 - depth 18-22
Tier3 Stratum6- depth 23-29

Even strata have higher payouts, higher than the next odds stratum.

my 2 cents

Payout can vary a LOT

FSC is 24-28 (not counting that breakable on 29)

3 depths of fighting and puzzle and 1 boss fight with 12 boxes

Monster never drops the same amount of heat/cr/mat, it is randomly generated (RNG), sometime a single zombie can drop 200+ cr and sometime it will drop dead nothing (heat and a mat)

FSC are said to be on average 8k cr (which is somewhat true) but a lot of time you will get 7.8k, 7.5k rarely 7k cr and at other time you will end up with 8.6k, 8.9k, even rarely reaching and breaking 9k cr on a single vana

Also taking into account those 12 boxes that can randomly drop cr/heat/mat and a *not-so-long* but *still-so-great* list of items that can drop. Like an Ash of Agni, Umbra Driver, Graviton Vortex, Magma driver, Dread Skelly Mask/Suit and every 4*-3*-2* variant of em (this list was looted by 3 people that I know on FSC run when I was with em, the Dread Skelly Mask dropped but not the suit so I suppose it would drop too)

Payout are randoms and the 20-30-ish boxes at the end of each danger missions make a HUGE difference on the payout. I'm in a PvE oriented guild and we always go solo at the end of bosses and danger missions to get each our own set of boxes and that's the reason why we loot so many items, we just open 4X more boxes than *most* people would

TL;DR RNG is RNG, the last danger mission depth with all those boxes will make your payout fluctuate a lot and the mobs avrg loot too
