anyone else getting kicked from the party by players right before vanaduke or other event?

This seems to be a nasty problem on the rise. I joined a party at the start of a firestorm citadel run, headed for vanaduke. I am a tier 3 player with above average equipment, even with UV's geared towards running the FSC. I never needed to be revived the entire run. I contrubuted heavily to the pace and completion, and i was never late to the next party switch or elevator. The other players didn't speak english, but i paid that no mind- until i noticed the word "gringo" among their chat, followed by "noob". I mostly ignored it and kept playing. but then just AFTER the elevator to vanaduke, they kicked me out, forcing me into a solo instance i could not win, wasting my time, effort, and mist.

This is the third time it has happened to me in 12 random party joins.

This is a growing problem. I see, in this instance, racism and hate for no reason, and then intentional abuse of power to hurt the progress of other players. Spiral Knights is a Co-Op game, and yet these individuals seem intent on hindering others whenever possible. I reported the individual, but i feel that unless this gets spoken about more openly, the individuals who seem keen on repeating this act as often as they want simply because they don't like something about the individual (ESPECIALLY if that difference is race, nationality, religon, or other prejudice) will never stop, or be punished.

So. if this, or a similar obvious case has happened to you where someone abused the system in such a way to make you feel unfairly robbed of your time, effort, and energy, please post it here. (and i don't mean trade scams. im sure theres tons of other threads about those)

Please try to be civil. I don't want this to be a hate or smear thread. Please do not give the names of those who wronged you. report the individuals using the in game reporting system, but keep player names out of this. I just want to know how many others have witnessed this, and under what circumstances.

Question.

What equipment do you bring to the Firestorm Citadel? There are several armor sets and weapons that have a stigma there that would contribute to hostility towards you.

radiant silvermail, owlite,

radiant silvermail, owlite, perfect seerus. all with pretty good UV. and my weps were nearly identical to theirs- blitz, voltaic tempest, and my baby, a max undead argent peacemaker :D. most of them also brought a blitz, and one of them also had a shock bomb. so i dont see why my equip would have anything to do with it.

and stigma or not, my equip shouldnt matter. my consistant ability to keep up, survive, and dish out good damage should overcome any pixels or numbers affiliated with my knight.

Welp.

I don't see any reason why they would be so hostile towards you. A minor suggestion though, try a Deadshot cloak in place of the Silvermail. It gives Undead Bonus Medium with all weapons, as well as a Gun Attack Speed Low. Normal/Shadow tends to be more useful than Piercing/Shadow, certainly in end-game. As for the AP, nice as it is, does lack a bit of... oomph. Have you tried any Alchemers? If not, no worries, the AP is a solid gun, especially with that UV. As for your shields, as you reach your skill plateau with guns, I suggest giving the Swiftstrike Buckler a spin. It makes a noticeable difference in both attack and reload speed. It's also only a three-star shield, so you wouldn't have wasted much if you end up not liking it. My guess is that you're just having horrible luck with pub matches. I suggest you run FSC primarily with your guild (if applicable) in the future.

actually, i used to focus on swords mostly. this equipment set i just find to be effective at handling FSC. i have a wide range of weps at 5* already.

Situations like you have experienced are why I no longer do boss runs or danger missions with people I don't know. I suppose it might be the lack of new content causing people to become more competitive in their grinding for profit, but I have been kicked countless times recently without a reason (often I have been carrying the team when it happened). What is even worse is when I am helping new players and they think I am "hogging their materials" and kick :/ Likely your party decided they could win without you and did not care if you suffered (or perhaps enjoyed that fact slightly). Not having you in their party increased the chances that they would be the recipient of any rare item at the end. I don't think there is any category that this appropriately falls under for reporting though. However, don't take it personally, there are nice people out there but a lot of the people who used to play for the love of the game are long gone.

This is why I always make

This is why I always make sure I'm the leader or more likely I just do runs with friends.
Occasionally I will just join a group, but not usually.
I hate it when I'm heating something and I get kicked at the end of a level for no reason. Because the only reason I was doing that level was for heat, and just because some stupid party leader wanted me out of the group for some stupid reason I lost my heat.
I don't know why they implemented heat loss if you go solo/get kicked out of a group. It's very, very frustrating.
Also, if you'd like to do some FSC runs without the risk of getting kicked, then shoot Grimranger a friend request.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

You should remember to do /report (or was it /reportknight ?) if players are racist. This will notify the Game Masters of the poor-sport players. If the GMs find the issue a problem, they will do one of the following, depending on how severe the issue is:

  • Receive a warning before accessing their account
  • Temporary ban
  • Permanent ban

As you can see, the GMs are almost like police. However, every report is always moderated and considered, so you can't ban anyone on will. Racist behavior IS bannable, no matter how small some people may see it.

my 2 cents

Yeah I can confirm this, I do a lot of Random RJP just to help people out (and cause I'm bored, obviously :D) and I often gets kicked right before JK...

Even though I'm 5* and wear my awesome santy kit and they are 3-4*

So I'm left faced to RJP with my Acheron and my Combuster on a solo fight... the horror!!! *GASP*

I do believe some people just like to have "power" and use it upon "weak" people since they don't have it in real life... That's just my opinion though

Honestly, I've wanted to do

Honestly, I've wanted to do this with so many people in PUGs, though I sort of believe in the concept of karma, so I try not to make enemies. I usually just leave a party and solo at Vana if I really think one or two people will drag me down. Also, my guildmates are much nicer people than I am, and I like consulting them with things regarding other players

Also, if you have a problem with not getting respect from others, wear an expensive costume. I've noticed that I get treated as a superior by practically everyone in PUGs if I'm wearing my main costume (Which totals to be worth over 4mil) rather than just normal treatment when I wear my secondary, much less expensive costume (Which totals to be worth around 600k at most)

Pardon me if I make myself out as a giant [redacted]hole

I know how you feel, and frankly, I've gotten used to the fact that random parties might kick you for the slightest of reasons.

And you know what I did? I learned to hog pills, blow up explosive blocks next to annoying teammates, and trigger all the monster spawns possible. Of course, I also run with wrong-type weapons and use flashy weapons that deal no damage like Cold Snap.

Here's an explanation.
Imagine a party of 3 Knights (rank) or Knight Elites who want to farm RJP for money. Now imagine a Vanguard pops in, still in his FSC set. Suddenly everyone's like "oh yey we win lets go hurry up don't change get on the elevator or i kick"... Now imagine the run. One of them runs into the fray, while the other 2 are running in circles, not even charging, watching me dish out 5* damage. So what do I do? Kill everything. THEN they start telling me to hurry up and get on the button or they'll kick me. At this point I'm just considering going solo.
Oh how it grinds my gears. So of course, I decided to put these knights in the fight of their lives. 2nd floor, I trigger all the spawns in all the rooms within 15 seconds and run away happily with my pills and hearts. Lo and behold everyone wipes except me, who is happily munching on flaming jellies. The guys start pestering me to rev, one of the things i hate the most in parties, and start threatening to kick me. So of course i ignore them and clear the room, and then explain that if they kicked me they'd have to waste 40 energy a piece reving themselves. That shut them up pretty well. So I rev'd the least noisy of the trio and we were off!

TLDR I'm a [redacted] don't ever run RJP with me. Ever.

well...

...i have done many fsc runs and i like to do danger missions with randome players but the issue you talks about never happened without a reason and before bosses: never.

like: when the whole run was a fail people left since it wasnt worth keep trying it. but here is something i did notice: at the end of the first level of Compound 42 (hope it is spelled correctly) there are often people who leave at the end of the first depth. but actually never all.

at fsc i really dont know whats wrong. i can only imagine they see something on you they dont like (and this doesnt needs to be racism). Maybe you are just too good, too fast or something like that and they feel somehow weak or low?

if nationality plays a role: where are you from? i am from germany and i didnt met even any racism behaviour because of my heritage.

(ps: i use a shiva with max ctr, chaos set and any other weapons. but even when i was heating stuff i never got kicked from randome groups...?)

i hope this helps you.

jenova- i assume racism,

jenova- i assume racism, because 'gringo' is the Spanish and Portuguese equivelant of a racist slang word, in the context they were using it.

it just a small group of players that are racists in Spanish Haven and i know because, well you can check their forums, most of their posters said something like "i just like to do this in the english forum because i like to annoy "gringos" but leaving that aside, that kind of thinking its spreading on the spanish haven thanks to that. and well some of them dont like "english players" because they cant talk english.

im not saying all Spanish are like that (there a few good people) but prolly you got into a group that belongs in that guild with a "hateful attitude" towards english players (there a few guilds in spanish haven which hate english players for some reason).

Now about if you wear an expensive costume you get worshipped by those players... well will work with some but not with all, sometimes you will get even more hate if you wear something expensive (there a thread of someone who make "fun" of mullet just because he use expensive stuff).

Your best Bet it just play with friend or guild groups or well do your own vanaduke group. because the kind of person you would meet in Pick Up Groups which most of the time would be people like them. (even sometimes they are racist themselves. but sometimes they just do "hate" for fun like one day i was on AH trying to find something interesting to buy until a "certain player" start talking trash about me but he dont said my nick but i know was about me because he do this all the time where i am, and just because i buy elevator pass... so go figure the kind of people we have in spanish havens :/) even they dont like read LONG POSTS... so you can see the kind of attitude they have there.

but oh well thats the sad but true reality of my haven.

Who's larry? And I never said I had no friends. It's just that most of them are off doing their own thing, or spamming boss runs, or have a full party. This game is pretty much designed around co-op. Playing solo is boring and inefficient. So you'll have to learn to deal with other human beings. They won't all be nice, but the majority should at least be reasonable. Better yet, Lead a run and you can kick anyone who's being a jerk to you.

Learn to Survive

I would be sad too if I was alone facing vanaduke 18 months ago, but not anymore. My suggestion is to learn how to solo vanaduke. It may be tough at first, but you should be able to do it eventually if you keep doing PUGs. There will always be some douchebag that will ruin your FSC run so you should be prepared for anything.

You can also try to avoid getting ppl mad, but that seems impossible. There are many things that can iritate ppl like using nitronome or levi to push slags into people, breaking the heart boxes in depth 25 without letting ppl know, aggroing the rocket puppy when someone is in the room killing the slags, wasting a poison vial when some guy really wanted it, using the AP on vanaduke when someone is using a shiv on him, throwing water on the mask when water was already thrown on it, following some dude in depth 25 even though everyone agreed to do the rooms solo, telling people what to do even though they already know what to do, etc.

Your best bet is to run with your friends or guildmates. They can probably help you transition into PUGs since they would probably give you advice if you are doing something annoying.

I haven't gotten kicked out of a FSC run for awhile now so I must be doing something right. I usually get friend invites rather than kicks so just be respectful to other people.

For your certain case, it is probably racism. I was never really fond of running with people who don't speak much English. I remember playing with some French dude and he was yelling hurry up and he was rushing and dying even though its the Silent Legion mission and I obviously need to take my time. He screams for a rev too so my health was always low so I ended up going up after finishing the first depth. Good luck on the rest of the mission French dude.

You're Larry, it's the nickname given to you in an earlier thread.

Also, @Apophis, for soloing Vana, you generally need to solo the whole run before, which takes longer than in a 4-person party

As someone who did way too

As someone who did way too many FSC runs I can say this:

These instances of players kicking other (capable and well equipped) players right before the boss are very rare, and in hundreds of runs with randoms I cannot recall anything like that happening. I never ever mention my country of origin, age, race, religion or anything of this sort in a random group as this can only bring prejudice and racist behavior.

As for equipment, I always have my Blitz & Shiver (+one or two more weapons) equipped for FSC but my in-game costume has always been my Proto armor (Just like the one in my forum pic) and let me tell you that there were times that people would kick me out at the mission lobby (after prestige badges were introduced it completely stopped) and you know what? That was a good thing because a player that doesn't know about costumes or doesn't bother to inspect you is not a player you want to do FSC runs with.

Over time you get better at running FSC and soloing Vanaduke that these things would matter less and believe me when I tell you that when a player kicks you for no apparent reason that's his loss, not yours. When you do random runs spot the good players and friend them. Eventually you'll have a nice list of Players to do FSC runs with.

I kind of like "Larry".

On topic:

Personally, If I get a bad group that makes me do all the work or insults me, I just note "Going solo" and then do so. I once got a tell from a RM after doing so complaining about how they all died and how I made them waste mist. My sanity is more important than the mist of someone that actively tries to disrespect me, or wastes my time.

Sometimes, though, you can make good friends/allies by just doing PUGs and being lucky.

Yeah, people can be jerks. I was wondering why I haven't been faced with people like this.
