How do I LD?

I'm mainly just a PVE'r. I don't LD at all (sometimes I watch it for fun), and the only time I have played it is just to get that hit-a-guy-with-a-snowball-in-LD achievement.

Now in spec, all I ever see, is mainly Skolvers and Polaris. i mean come on.

Can someone give me advice on how to be good or at least decent on LD? I don't wanna hear any "Get Skolver" or "Get Polaris" or "Get UVs" or any of that dumb stuff. What's some of the key characteristics that most people miss that is bound for victory to your team?

Also, weapons, armors, shields, and set suggestions would be nice (But again, No Skolver or Polaris or UVs).

Sure half the people wearing skolver don't know how to play and just copy the other half that does, so you can still win with the less popular gear. You can use whatever you feel comfortable with. Some even do videos with proto armor and sudaruskas.

But between 2 average and equal players in terms of skill, who do you think will win?
It's not dumb, it's the truth. A cloned player with health trinkets, ASI UVs and damage bonus has an adavantage against a plain player.

Oh wait, I just forgot LD is

Oh wait, I just forgot LD is now impossible to play now that Dash and Shield Bash has been implemented. It's impossible to hit that annoying guy with the Black Kat Cowl or Mercurial Demo set with guns and swords now.

Dude, just play

There are so many different styles to play by. Just pick your favorite gear, and practice in games. You think everyone started doing 20k when they start? No. Just sign up for a game, capture some points, attempt to fight while analyzing their strategies, figure out your own strategies, and play. There is no guide for how to be good at LD, just play with your own style.

I play T2, not T3. You should try that too.

Key Characteristics

Some suggestions
1. DO NOT use striker in T3 LD without trinks unless you are godly or your team is losing and ya need to speed cap. And if yr not very good at it, no striker in T2 either
2. If you are a slower class, aka Recon or Guardian, and an injured striker run by, DO NOT give chase
3. Travel in groups, unless yr whole team is made of clones, in which they will not stick together
4. If you have subpar weaponry or little skill, like me, go guardian and USE THAT sheild. Trust me, it makes ppl rage in T2, why not T3?
5. Learn to dodge pulsar.
6. Try not to combo. Even with pulsar.
7. Keep yr butts ON the point. Even if you die the point will still be yoursssss.
8. Try not to die.
9. Cap. CAP. (Quote from LD game)
10. Do not call anyone noob. Seriously. Unless they are being a total (beep). There's always an ignore button.
11. If all else fails, try T2 LD. The equips are easier to get.

@Zorbez

Yeah. In spec mode I've seen A LOT of people rage at others as they got owned.

I also agree with #7 as it also works on TF2 (Not comparing, it's just a common mistake I also saw)

#4 is also good as guardians are also rare to me and their massive health and shields do make sense to make the other team rage.

Small Tips

I actually DO Combo, but only with the WRH (OK, any sword). I do not, however, reccomend the charges. You will die. Seriously. Also, CAP THE HECK OUT OF THE POINTS.

So there boom hints DEROPPED.

Go bomber. Use Nitronome. Watch as all the strikers with no guns start calling you noob and more colourful names in fits of foaming rage because they keep running into your Nitronome. Bonus points if you have a Gran Faust with at least Medium ASI from an Elite Quick Strike Module and sneak-kill some people as a Recon.

Also, about the shield, I gave up on using it in T3 Lockdown because most times two hits from a clone's GF are enough to shatter it =/ It breaks even faster if you have people in the shield area and they also get hit.

Like he said. ^^^ Also bomber is a fun and good choice for defending points and easy to master if your into bombing that is. Being a gunner is a good and fun choice too if you know how to aim but decent class nonetheless. But for swordsmen chaos set is a nice choice if you have at least a brandish line weapon of choice Voltedge, Combuster, Glacius, or Acheron, take your pick and any other weapon you like but note the chaos set has negative status restriction but add some shock resist UV and whatever and your okay.

My first time playing Lockdown was like "Your damage is so bad, and you should just leave Lockdown.", and I was happy about getting a lot of captures because that told me I supported my team, and I said "Yes! I got the most captures!". Someone replies "You also got the least damage. Noob.".

I seriously abhor it when people do that.

They act like your first time playing something has to be your greatest moment at it.

That's like saying that a kid going to Pre-K on his/her first day has to have the intellect of Stephen Hawking.
