Can spiral knights be played on the surface pro?
Sorry if this was already asked.
Surface pro compatible
so I downloaded it and every time I try to run it, it doesn't work, it just pops up and closes. Any idea on how to fix this?
First, this goes in Technical Issues.
Second, I need to look up what it's system specs are. Well, ok not right now I'm busy. However, it would help us a lot to have a bit more info. Do everything in this thread. If you still can't run the game, come back here.
If you are still having issues, please tell us if you are a Steam player, Browser player, or manual-install player. Each could possibly change why you can't run the game. If you can give us your projectx.log
file, that would help a lot because it says everything that the game does up until crashing, so we could trace your issue there. (I will tell you the location of that file, but it varies from how you installed the game, so I can't pinpoint where it is yet.)
EDIT: Also, by how it sounds, I'm guessing your Java is out of date. Uninstall the game, install the newest Java version, and then reinstall the game. (Once again, I can't give you more specific help on uninstalling the game until I know how you play the game.)
so I tried the java, all updated reinstalled SK, same issue, so here is the text in the project.log
2013/06/22 15:28:21:662 INFO J$a.b: Logging to 'C:\Users\scan\AppData\Roaming\Three Rings Design\Spiral Knights\.\projectx.log'.

2013/06/22 15:28:25:547 INFO DefaultControllerEnvironment.getControllers: Attempting to use default windows plug-in.
2013/06/22 15:28:25:547 INFO DefaultControllerEnvironment.getControllers: Loading: net.java.games.input.DirectAndRawInputEnvironmentPlugin
I'll just say right now: the game does run on Windows 8. On my Windows XP (I don't have access to Win8's log file right now), in normal circumstances the next line should be something like this:
2013/06/20 13:33:52:890 INFO J$a.b: Connecting [host=game.spiralknights.com/184.73.171.119, port=47624]
Extrapolating from this, do you have a firewall installed and running? a virus scanner? I can see why the game would be crashing if it's a virus scanner, because it may see the game connecting to internet and freak out. (Killing Spiral Knights in the process.) If you have a scanner, make sure Spiral Knights is allowed on it. (Also, for good measure, check the firewall too. Win8 comes with one if I remember properly.)
Another possibility is that Spiral Knights is somehow stumbling on accessing the controllers, but I find it unlikely. I've had controller issues before, but that didn't stop the game from running.
yes, I play on mine all the time. I had a issue with the graphic driver software though.
it seems you are having the same problem I had, to fix this problem I have to roll back the graphics driver to an earlier point in time. http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/80736 I had to solve this problem by myself tho...
also this problem will keep happening (automatic updates?) just roll back your driver again.
If you do not mind telling me how you rolled back the graphics. I'm still lost here and I did read the link.
control panel->device manager->display adapter->right click->properties->driver
This is very likely a side effect of drivers acquired via the Windows Update. Drivers through this channel frequently appear to have incomplete OpenGL compatibility (required for Spiral Knights). In this case you can usually resolve the issue by installing drivers directly from Intel's Download Center instead. In case they refuse to install initially you can try following the steps found on the wiki.
Thank you! :D
Thank you so much for the help, its working perfectly so far. Thank you again.
What is a surface pro?
