So, the question is simple. Are modules better than trinket? From what I see, the 5* trinket dread skelly charm provides a decent amount of shadow defence, but does it stack with the overall defence like a piece of armor ( half the defence of the armor + half of the defence of the helmet + half of the trinket=overall defence? ) or like a...trinket? I am thinking about getting one since i got 100+ grim sparks that i have no idea what to spend on, this trinket should be able to boost my defence against slags in FSC by a tiny bit ( 1 bar of health maybe? ). Heart pandents, providing health boost does dounds like a good idea but i reckons those pandents are for noobs(or, skolvers in LD), since they lose more health. Besides, i don't do, no enamorocks for me :(
The modules, however, do also provides some cool stat boost. Especially gun damage bonus which i am desperate for ( gunslinger gear alone just doesn't cut it, SSB is out of the question since i have a 1 bar latency.), or perhaps ASI is better? I went for the shadowsun(damage donus sounds good to me), if module is better, then which stat should i add onto? ASI or damage increase? And is the cost of making the module to 5* (1K CE + 6K cr) reallly worth it?
Any advice is appreciated.
Read the wiki page "Abilities". It explains how offensive bonuses add up to +6 ("Maximum!"), how defensive bonuses add beyond +4 ("Maximum!"), etc.
In general, offensive trinkets are considered better than defensive trinkets in the Clockworks. The main reason is that expert players don't need a little more defense, but would like to have a little more offense, to kill quickly. Defensive trinkets don't make big enough of a difference to enable a "tank" play style or anything like that.
As far as which offensive trinket to go for: You should use your armor and trinkets to get damage bonus, because the damage bonus you get is a "blanket" bonus against all enemies (all six monster families, Vanaduke, and other knights in PvP). You can't replicate that with UVs. You should use UVs to get ASI and CTR --- which one is more valuable depends on your weapons and your play style. Of course, armor and trinkets can also give you ASI and CTR.
In Lockdown, people use heart pendants, because that extra health can make a big difference.
It may also help you to know the history. For a long time, there were no offensive trinkets, and heart trinkets were random drops in the Clockworks and hence really hard to get. So the only common trinkets were the Brinks trinkets (damage defense and status defense). The offensive trinkets and heart trinkets are, roughly speaking, more powerful than the Brinks trinkets, because this game's items gradually get more powerful as the years pass.
