So my Elevator Pass ended a couple weeks ago and I decided to get on LD so I could get tokens for the Bombheads (even though I don't like them much, I want to have them in my Arsenal collection). Since I know that I can't gun to save my life (my lame PC doesn't help either; aim at someone and fire, they were actually a few inches ahead of where my screen showed they were), and I can't save myself from other swordsman either.

After messing around with different loadouts to see if I could up my chances of survival, I remembered the Mercurial Demo set I crafted way back when I did a Shadow Lair run. I like bombs, the Demo Merc set has a nice Shock resistance by default and the bonus Movement Speed Increase, so I decided to try it. I ended up with the basic loadouts of Mercurial Demo Helm and Suit, Nitronome, Voltaic Tempest and then either Stagger Storm, Dark Retribution, Dark Briar Barrage or Ash of Agni. As for swords, I went with my Gran Faust because it has a fancy High ASI that I can up to Ultra with an Elite Quick Strike Module but that gets nerfed to VH because I go as Recon. The other trinket is a 5 star health trinket because why not.

So these couple weeks I've actually been having fun in LD with my bombs, even when my team loses. It's especially nice when I sneak kill someone with my GF while they're trying to take a point, even if I end up being sniped by a gunner seconds later.

Eventually I got in a match where this happened. I noticed after I took the screenie and uploaded it on Steam to show a friend that I had actually managed to get 10k damage and 6 caps with pretty much Nitronome alone (I know many of you think that LD skill isn't about caps/damage, and I partly agree with that, but the score still surprised me :P).

I shrugged it off after giving my usual "umad" response and kept playing. Some matches later I get this. I shrugged it off again after suggesting he get shock resistant gear like the Mercurial set you can get with Jelly Gems.

Fast-forward a few days with more LD bombing and people pretty much making no complaints about me bombing, and we get to today, where after a few matches I got this and this.

While this won't make me ditch my bomber loadout anytime soon, it did show me that a big part of the LD community takes the minigame way too seriously and gets extremely butthurt when they come across someone with different gear that they can't kill. And hey, it's not my fault they kept running into my Nitronomes trying to kill me with swords because they had no guns to take me out from afar!

I also hope this doesn't fall into the "don't name and shame players" rule of the forums (Especially since I blacked out their names and the colourful names they called me). I just wanted to maybe show that lots of people take LD way too seriously, and if it goes as far as calling others... imaginative names, if we should just ignore them or if we should report. (I'm not sure about the reporting thing because I have the censor off and what not so I don't know if there's something like "Oh you have the censor off, deal with it!").

By the way: I'm well aware that I might have egged them on in the start, but I kept my replies free of swear words or other insulting terms because I don't like being rude to others even on the Internet. Unless people consider the dumb "oh you're mad" variations of replies insulting...

Yeah, I get some of this when some insane guy (the definition of insanity is to continously attempt something that doesn't work) just runs into my nitro blast over and over. In my experience, bombers are fairly screwed against guns, and swords-only is pretty tough (far from impossible) against bombs. (With nitro and shards it's just timing, with haze bombs it's just making yourself immune to it.)

Bombs are a lot harder to use than some weapons.

Yea, if the other team has a gunner that knows how to use Alchemers or Argent Peacemaker/Sentenza, I can barely dodge well enough to put down a bomb properly. It's worse with the Antigua lines, I'll just run to a different point if I see a good gunner with one of those near me e.e

I wasn't saying that killing a bomber with swords is impossible. I had a few strikers that actually knew what they were doing killing me with a well timed FF swipe :P It just irks me that those that can't do it just resort to name calling once they die a couple of times but keep trying the same tactic anyway. :I

And yes, it's harder to play with bombs, as well as more fun. Even though Strikers take way longer to die than they should.

I bomb too and I think it more fun if you know how too, I mix thinks up as a bomber I be ether defensive bomber or offensive bomber depends on the match or I feel like it. I always have a Polaris with me in case of gunners or other people with Polaris, I do try to use other weapons with my bomber loadouts like my Virulent Catalyzer (Now a Biohazard) and it works out just find but could of been better. all and all I love being a bomber without them all lockdown will be is a endless skolver clones, Polaris spamming, slap fest.

using bombs in LD isnt something new. people did it all the time back in the day, but strikers eventually figured out how to counter this (with good timing you can hit the bomber before the bomb explodes) also polaris spam made using bombs in LD suck. So I assume now that people haven't used bombs in a while new people in LD don't know how to counter them yet, eventually they'll figure it out.

haters mean they're jealous of your skills or they're mad because you killed them. What i do is play along i /sad or /cry and just keep doing what i do. Then when the game ends and you see that you have a better score than your hater thats when to get your payback and start talking trash on them lol. Now don't take me as a mean player but hey, the hater deserves it

That is hilarious! Oh my goodness, let me catch my breath for a second...

... Okay, I think I'm good. Be it 'standart' or otherwise, there are several methods that can be argued to be equally pitiful but at the end of the day it's free-for-all and whatever works, works. If they're angry with your playstyle, that means you're doing something right. Appeasing to their 'beliefs in fairness' or 'playing by their rules' is basically just setting yourself up for a fight that is heavily in their favour and that is exactly what they want - so why would you? Keep bombing and show those suckers that you won't let them push you around!
