Sheep, shepherds, and hungry wolvers...

An interesting concept for a new level type: the pasturegrounds!

How it works: The pasture grounds would be a beast-themed level type filled with a 'monster' known as a puffball - basically the clockwork's version of a sheep. In spite of their 'monster' heritage, 'puffballs' do not attack players: they come in two varieties (puffballs and puffball rams, who have horns), and the latter attack wolvers with split piercing/physical damage with a chance to stun. Speaking of wolvers, your job here is to stop some wolvers from killing them!

Towards the beginning of the stage you will encounter a gremlin shepherd from emberlight. He is suffering losses in his livestock as of late and requests your help in protecting his flock. The path will then diverge in two directions: one which leads to an arena with a party button and another which simply circles the arena, pits a few wolvers against you, and leads to the llift. Setting off the party button will close off the exits to the arena with gates and spawn 10 puffballs - your goal is now to keep them alive, as 5 waves of wolvers - accompanied by chromalisks (in waves 1 and 2), alpha wolvers (phases 3-5), a gremlin mender (phases 4 and 5), and gremlin thwackers (in phase 5) - will now spawn. The wolvers will deliberately attack the puffballs ahead of attacking you (they'll change their mind if you attack them), so it goes to reason that they need to be killed first: every other enemy (which the obvious exception of the mender's) will be much more interested in your throat. On a side note, don't hit the puffballs - they don't drop anything :(

After defeating all five waves, one of the gates opens and leads you on a second route to the lift. Along the way, one of two things happens:

1: The gremlin shepherd from before appears, thanks you for your efforts, and directly adds crowns to your inventory. The crownage starts at 100 crowns: depending on tier, 30, 60, or 90 crowns are added for every puffball that did not die.

2: About 20% of the time, a ghostmane stalker will be waiting for you instead. He mocks your efforts, stating that he captured the shepherd and that with the shepherd gone the puffballs will perish anyways, and then vanishes, putting more gates up and sicking three waves of gremlin thwackers (accompanied by a mender in the last phase, scorchers in the second, and demos in the third) on you as he vanishes. Defeating these waves and moving onward will reveal the shepherd, now stuck in a cage: bash the cage and he will be even more grateful at your stopping the Crimson Order's attempt to kill his sheep, giving 50, 100, or 150 crowns per puffball respectively.

All (polite) comments on the idea will be much appreciated.

That COULD work, but I doubt Seerus would allow such lies and propaganda last long. He would probably go in personally and beat the cogs out of them if they did that.
That answer plot wise just seems like a cop out.

To waffle: Weird picture...did you make that just for this suggestion? I am very amused...
Anyways, Seerus would have more than enough reason to kill an emberlight shepherd's sheep. Gremlins from the colony view emberlight gremlins as scummy outcasts due to their disloyalty to King Tinkinzar. Hindering one such emberlight gremlin by destroying his livelihood could be one more point in a crimson order gremlin's favor, as it would make Tinkinzar view him as a loyal subject and not as a potential defecter like the emberlight gremlins.

To Zeddy: Originally no, but now that I think about it that would make the stage's potentially rather high crown output too easy to obtain...so yes, you can kill the puffballs/sheep/whatever they would be called.

To Little-Juances: I know the name's a tad stupid - I could rename them at some point. We also could just call them 'sheep', even though I had intended to avoid being so uncreative :(

Yes I did make it, I am going to try and start using memes that I edit to help get points across.
Can we try to keep King Tinkinzar out of the reasoning? I'm only asking as I sorta see him as a red haring, a lie to keep the spiral order busy is all and that in my opinion makes the story of the game better but none the less I see the point there. But wouldn't it be smarter for Seerus(I see him as the leader of the Crimson order as he is the only proven member.) to have the Shepard enlisted into the army to help supply the troops with a new food source that also provides clothing materials? or at least set him up as a business partner to buy the sheep off of :l
I dunno, it's just me but I would like it more if this was like a rouge group more then a "crimson order" group as I doubt that this Shepard would really be a concerns for the Crimson Order

Perhaps sheep provide some

Perhaps sheep provide some sort of of super-wool that prevetns the Crimson Order
from going to Emberlight and........

...oh forget it, let's just say " 'cause Seerus is a jerk who likes to kill stuff".
If he kills gremlins (and yes, he does, according to the descriptions for the
OCH bombs), why would he have any qualms about killing sheep? It would
cut down on food and clothing for the emberlight rebbels.

its not that he would have a

its not that he would have a problem with it, it's that he doesn't have a reason. He is a leader of a large organisation why would he be wasting his time on some small Shepard down at ember light when he could be dealing with actual knights who are fighting?

Hmm...

He could be targetting lots of shepherds, and this one could simply have been the one we came across?

@Waffle: Crimson Order obviously wants Emberlightians to have no warm winter coats.

>implying there is a winter and not just the place getting colder from you people dumping blue and green shards too much.
@Almighty-Joshaeus
I guess I'll just drop it, I mean it is not the biggest issue for details like that. But feel free to simply have them be a rouge group of gremlins who are stealing the sheep because they need the wool, not want it to screw over Emberlight.

I like the idea, but not the model. A shepherd gremlin sounds so unbelievable that it’s almost funny. I would rather a gremlin scientist or something more akin to what the gremlins specializing in (science, robots, failed captured knight experiments, weapons, tactical raids, ECT.).

Also, I think the puffballs should be able to get damaged, but if they can be damaged, make it so that our weapons do not kill them in 4 to 6 hits. Also, can the puffballs be shield bumped and do they stay still in one place or do they bounce everywhere giving knights problems?

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

I think this sounds like we could troll other players by intentionally killing all the sheep. ._.

Could the players please NOT be able to hurt the sheepies?

Otherwise, +1
