Recons aren't very popular in T2 Lockdown, but if used correctly they can do quite some damage. They are also very good for capturing, defending, and reclaiming points/bases. If you are good at recon, you can get a good 2-4k damage per round :D

Important Tips and Notes for Recon-ing
-ALWAYS cloak when entering a base area, wether or not it has been captured by your team or the enemy.
-DO NOT deliberately chase after enemies. Only fight if needed.
-When doing a sneak attack, do not let the radar detect the enemy before they know you are there. ONLY use Death Mark after you launched the sneak attack.
-Do not bother using the Death Mark for 2 knights or more. Death Mark is only good for 1-on-1.
-When being chased, go with the not-so-obvious path, or hide in a corner as the enemy will assume you have escaped and ran off somewhere.
-(Applies for all classes)Always keep moving when capturing a base.
-Don't bother cloaking while capturing a base.
-Do not charge weapons

Weapon Combos and Tactics
(Note Weapon 3's are not too important)

For actual heavy damage (the kind I use)
Weapon 1: Heavy to medium Normal damage sword such as Sealed Sword or Arc Razor.
This is for ambushing the enemy before they notice you. Make sure you cloak before entering a base, as enemies can be there already. Go near the enemy. DO NOT LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE THERE. Get a good 2-3 hits in, you can take off more than half the enemy's health before you actually start fighting. After you land the starting hits, cloak and use your nightblade.

Weapon 2: Nightblade
Most knights do not have any shadow or elemental armor. After landing the starter hits with the heavy, use your nightblade/elemental weapon. Do NOT use your heavy sword after the enemy knows you are there, as they are very slow and easy to counter once discovered.

Weapon 3: Antigua or Elemental Brandish

Method 1: Chain combos, then cloak after combo is finished.
Pros:
More damage
Kill enemy quicker

Cons:
Riskier
Hard to execute against experienced players

Method 2: One slash then Cloak, move around, repeat.
Pros:
Safer
Can use heavy sword if you want

Cons:
Takes longer
Less damage
A bit difficult to do with a sword

Will add more stuff, stay tuned :D

Ok lock downer here are just some tips and tricks

Know when it's time for you to uncloak and strike at a good angle

Do not start off with an slow weapon because most slow weapons will leave you vulnerable and given your opponent a chance to break your cloak

Use your death Mark I find very use in crowd control battles because it makes your enemies weaker

Do not try to be a hero you have a cloak so use it to your advantage go and heal

always remember plan your position and attacks accordingly

Most of the time the majority the enemy are at 1 base so that gives you a chance to cap the surrounding bases

Do not ever let your opponent a chance to fight back remember in most battles the Pearson to get the first hit will most likely win.

Hope I helped :)

Why would you use deathmark in 1v1 and not vs a group?

Mind you, I've never ventured out of T3, but tactically, I see more value in deathmarking a group than in solo combat:
When you're dealing with a group, you usually want to reduce their numbers by either sending them running or killing them off, and deathmark can only contribute to that, from what I've seen.

If you deathmark 2/3 enemies near a point, everyone assumes you will attack the deathmarked people and the un-marked ones are more likely to have their guard down and give you a free hit while everyone else goes in a panic. And even if you go and attacked the deathmarked ones, you have a better chance of actually killing them than if you just go for a regular hit.

Of course, I'm assuming here that you attack between warning/deathmark, so you're not just sitting uselessly in cloak while you attempt to mark everyone in the area.

Omg it's serian lol, and to answer your Q why would you use death Mark in a 1v1 is cuz you can set the illusion that you are up close attacking and googl them by shooting them down .

er

well, the OP said NOT to use it vs a group:

-Do not bother using the Death Mark for 2 knights or more. Death Mark is only good for 1-on-1.

I'm all for using it whenever possible, but I can't see the argument for why you would specifically NOT use it lol.

Just to throw out some things. I am not necessarily right.

1. I say use the cloak sparingly. Learn when to use the cloak and when not to to conserve it. Strikers will laugh at you when you run out of cloak on a base and they effortlessly chase you down.
2. I concur.
3. I concur.
4. No. Unless you are a solo player Death mark helps your team fight better. Your strikers will benefit from taking down enemies with greater ease. A guardian that protects you while you death mark people as a striker takes down the enemy is a good combo.
5. Mind games are essential to success.
6. No comment
7. See point 1.
8. There's a reason recons get charge time reduction medium for everything and charge time reduction very high for bombs. It's a waste if you're not taking advantage of the bomb charge time. Freezing someone and unleashing Shockburst charges is more fun than you think.

Hammer or Sealed is a good heavy sword to use. Combo sparingly, hit once, dodge while cloaked, attack. I don't recommend Arc Razor.
Nightblades deal heavy damage, as do elemental Brandishes. I would rather use a Flourish/Barb for actual fights. Heavy swords are better than you think if you have the skill for it.
Antiguas irritates many people and personally I will target an antigua user first. Antiguas are also not for group fights, you'll end up messing up your frontline striker's attacks (usually). A blaster is good though, as are alchemers and forgive me, pulsar.

Combos are Tantamount to suicide and should be used sparingly. Any skilled Hammer or Toothpick user will easily beat you with shield cancelling if you don't know what you are doing.
Method 2, aka Shield cancel. It works for many things. A thing to note about recon: Interrupting your enemies before they attack is important if not essential to survival.

My old T2 recon loadout that

My old T2 recon loadout that brought in the $$$:

Flamberge ASI VH(can be interchanged with other flourishes or even a brandish)
Sealed sword
Voltech Alchemer
Freezing Vaporizer MK II

The Flamberge was very weak, but instead of using it confrontationally I would use it to heckle my opponents with strikes that allowed to me to cloak again almost instantly.

Sealed Sword cleared points with the threat of it's damage and wide arc.

Voltech Alchemer was my main pressuring weapon. Alchemer charges go farther than you can see below your character, so if you have the positional advantage you can unleash charge attacks that can completely disrupt any capturing by the other team. It also does enough damage to force them to react to you soon else they'll die. However, this is not your opening to start fighting, the purpose of the charge is to clear a point or support your team in a large battle.

Vaporizer was used for locking down chokepoints and creating obstacles for the enemy during a large scale battle for a control point.

What the Recon excels at is not doing damage in a different way, or being the best capturing class, it is the best class for holding a specific area and keeping players off of points. You are not a tank, you are not a gimped striker, do not play like that. Overextending and being too confrontational will to death.

I could go into a huge guide on the class, but I don't have enough motivation and I'm already working on something else.

Good strategy I use to annoy the living crap out of people

Have you ever tried peek-shooting? Holy cow, it's so fun.

Step 1: get a gun that is NOT on the Antigua, Magnus, or catalyzer line.

Step 2: go into one of the other teams points and start capping. Most likely, a striker will come up.

Step 3: once you see a striker come, cloak.

Step 4: while they are re-capping, quickly go out of your cloak a squeeze off a shot from your gun in their general direction. Cloak after you have shot one.

Step 5: move to a different spot around the striker, and do it again.

Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you think health is low, deathmark, and spam heavy sword combo.
