/le sigh

This game is great, but I wish I had played in the beta instead of just getting my TF2 hat (but now I hate TF2 for various reasons). It looked so much more fun, more challenging, more to do, harder to obtain things. Also the little things like Brawl, 5 spaces for vials pills, boss runs/payout, the UI, but worst of all, the MISSIONS. Missions have changed almost everyone's play style. What happened to the good old days when people would do arcade?

I wonder why OOO actually removed Brawl.
I wonder if OOO will ever do anything about missions *cough *cough King of Ashes.

The other day I did arcade and it was 100 times more fun than doing another mission.

Also 4* people always begging to get put in a KoA lobby because they're too greedy and impatient. Arcades always an option because as long as you're T3, you can still do arcade, everything is all about missions now. I didn't beg people to do KoA, instead I brought my alt along and I would do the first 2 levels of RT. it may have taken a while, but it got the job done. I wish more people would do arcade, and I reckon that at least 80% of people who started playing SK after missions were introduced have never even tried Arcade.

Ikr?

I remember when they didn't tell you what to do, you just went with everyone else. I remember when the stone tortoise was popular, when vog was OP, and even seeing the red, impassable gate at sub towns. I remember when the twins came out, even when BN was popular. I remember when Jempire didn't exist, and when I first crossed the chasm. Those were good times. But now they are gone.

Brawl was removed because it was unbalanced and bad.

all my +1

I agree with nearly every single thing you said:

1. King of ashes is overplayed
2. arcade is more fun
3. People begging for KoA invites are greedy and impatient

However I find it kind of hypocritical that you complain about people joining KoA when they're underqualified, and yet you drag an alt along on IMF. People shouldn't be allowed to exploit alts just because they're greedy and impatient.

Fair enough, I used to use it for rage crafting but then I gave up after 40 crafts and 1 UV (fire low) I don't use my alt anymore. Sometimes I would have brought it along, but that was purely for heat, not crowns. Believe it or not, but I couldn't care any less about having double pay, it just to help me out a little bit because I had a lot of stuff to heat. Now that I think about it I could have just gotten an energy boost, but oh well...

I play the arcade all the time

I play the Arcade all the time --- nearly every day. If I leave my party open, then people soon join. We all enjoy ourselves.

There is nothing stopping you from playing the Arcade. If you want to play it, then just go ahead and play it.

sad thing is, all the arcade

sad thing is, all the arcade is good for now is selling minerals (and we all know the massive importance of selling minerals, dont we). well, at least thats the only thing it does exclusively. still, that feeling of manually entering the clockworks from there feels so good.

thing is, missions offer so many advantages over cw that peeps only go in there to get boss recipes (except for the 4* quicksilver, which for some reson is actually sold in a mission). missions offer you a rank up, even if only for the first time you play it, same amount of money and same amount of mats/heat. the cw need some real eye-catching exclusive content or its gonna become a horse wagon (cool n stuff, but old-fashioned and cars are better).

I miss the past as well, but games develop in different ways all the time. We all get tears, and OH! I MISS THE CLASSICS!

The Charged Quicksilver set is actually purchasable in the supply depot.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

News flash: Brawl sucks and they will never re-add it. Sorry to be mean.

Why does it suck? It's even more P2W than LD, because you are only fighting, nothing else. In LD if your gear sucks at least you can still cap. Bombs are more viable because you are trying to keep someone from standing in your circle instead of just scaring them off.

@Batabii To be honest just

@Batabii To be honest just you and your alt is actually much better than carrying one that would die a lot, cause you just make your alt die, revive it, if you die, your alt can get up and revive you, and for stuff like vana, don't bring it to the boss but bring it to 24-27, and the crowns it's earned give it to your main

@OP Brawl was removed cause it was highly unbalanced cause you could make your self look like a noob and people would think your easy but you're not.

Perhaps if they do manage to bring it back, they could just like once you join in brawl your costumes come off until you leave the match

wonder why ppl regularly mention their yearning for classic sk

the old bosses including their maps and the other pvp mode sound interesting, but everything else looks like the same boring grind stuff, that we're used to.. or perhaps im just forgetting, how the monsters felt to play with before they got nerfed

arcade - i did go there after too much fsc, but i stayed away from boss strata, because i was fed up with them and t2,t3 because of their crown fee
eventually i abandoned that place too, because of how absurdly difficult it was to find a normal player to play with

much funner to play ld, where you get to actually play with actual people(keyword mmo - the reason why i started all this stuff)
im sure there would be at least just as many people playing the other pvp mode, if it was available!

Arcade is fun, but the min-max side of me that wants to profit ends up doing Vana lol.

I will say as a reminder though, that if you finish the previous tier of a gate, you can play the next tier without paying crown cost (so finishing the t2 tier will make t3 entry free).

As someone who have played

As someone who have played since official release, all I can say is that when people only had the arcade, no one really liked it that much. After the wonders of exploration wore off somewhere around the 5th time you see the same theme, it just gets boring and you just want to get to the boss levels. Plus they removed all the challenge from the game so going through the clockworks and surviving isn't that big a deal anymore.

I still run arcade whenever I

I still run arcade whenever I have extra mist, other than that usually I'm in LD. If I can find some decent D23-D29 runs I'll almost always join at Basil since they still pay 8k-10k and it's actually fun. It lets me actually use more than just Glacius/DA+Blitz as I only have two weapons. FSC is boring and I only do that when friends/guildies need help... But yeah, 3*s going to FSC is kinda irritating, I mean, at least get T3 clearance and arcade it or use the ol' vial trick (as a T2 knight) which doesn't work anymore. :C

I'll do the arcade with you....

Actually, I see arcade parties available all the time. Like, ALL the time. I don't think I've ever logged on, and within 5 minutes of watching the party finder, not been able to find an arcade party. Of course, there are 20 times more FSC parties, but it was ALWAYS that way. And it always will be that way.

Think about it. If they buff the clockworks in terms of payout, or get rid of FSC, the players will find a level to make into the next "FSC", that is, farm-able level. The devs don't like it either, but its kind of true.

The key to solving grinding is to make no one place better than everywhere else to get money or progress. That way, people can go wherever they want and not have to worry about "I could be making more money somewhere else". That's what killed the arcade, money over fun.

This man speaks the truth.

I started playing this game nearly a year ago. I would do tier 1, save my cr, then got to tier 2 in no time.I didn't like grinding the same level over and over again(although I did do that to get my sealed sword and antigua, even though I don't use it that much.) I always did like the arcade as well. It's a fun place to use your gear.

lol

im not an economy guy, but if every place had the exact same payout, wouldnt that make it impossible to make profit anymore? i mean all would be able to play on mist, but playing on CE would be like endless loop mode with 0 crowns profit, since everybody earns the same crowns per energy and therd be absolutely no way to get more than that. or perhaps energy buyers would have to adapt to posting offers in energy trade rather than clicking the button. but that would be a low profit for any f2p player

idk

GF FTW

When I go into the arcade, I find it more fun to use my GF outside of LD than getting to a million crowns.

Feel the love

The good old days. Aaah, where skolver/chaos wasn't the most important armor. Where SK was actually a place where you could relax and watch Chris and Magnus fight everyday and then lol yourself because they remind you of your married aunt and uncle. And the realise that Chris can kick you everytime you say something bad about him because he is your guild master.
But most of all I miss my old and first guild Spiral God Alliance when they were still active and vey much alive. But alas, I think it will never come back again, arcade is dead, ld is still unbalanced, the new generation of players has no respect at all for the vets, so here is where my journey ends I think. Goodbye old friends, hope the battle spirtes will keep SK alive. Salute!

Everyone runs either FSC or RJP now, and yet you can still make profit.

best fix for missions that will never happen ;-;

Its simple, we slaughter the missions (not talking about prestige missions) so they function as a tutorial instead of a "start to end" and have them end with the player doing a special "discovering the edge of the Gloaming Woods" were the player is met with what boss levels bring.
We also need to fix boss floors so that the pay out won't be so crazy. We should give each floor variations all with lower then current (FCS RJ), if not equal (snarby and roarmulas), pay outs.

I've played this game for over a year and a half, and I miss the days when you had to work to get to IMF, the days of crowds in The arcade, now when I go to the arcade, it's abandoned. Barely anyone in my guild does arcade runs with me anymore, shame, 'cause a run from T1 to T3 can be REALLY fun. Mostly do it to heat my new togs, but mostly for fun.

Pork, signing off.

Amazing

I haven't played this game in over two years. I came back just within the past week, and it's still taking me a little bit to realize all that's changed. The one thing I noticed the most is that the community, which was always pretty noobish but in an endearing, lovable stupidity kind of way where lots of people didn't know what they were doing, has been replaced by a scattering of people (vets) who know what they're doing and what they're talking about surrounded by throngs of screaming, deplorable beggars with a misplaced sense of entitlement. I remember when I could throw a thousand or so crowns at a new player and they practically danced around me and followed me around town and would have built a statue of me if they could, just because I was nice. Yesterday a guy joined me in the CW and asked for 2000 crowns; after a short convo, I gave them to him, and he just said thanks and vanished. Not that this never happened way back when; it just didn't seem quite as ubiquitous.

Aside from that, it's taken me until reading this thread to find out why the freaking arcade is emptier than a wallet at a strip club. Apparently all anyone does anymore is grind missions, which are the same levels every single time, ad infinitum, because...the payout is better? That's what I've read here, anyway. I had assumed the missions were a newly implemented stepwise tutorial to get players easily associated with all aspects of SK; instead, it sounds like they're tutorials initially but they continue into endgame. What the heck is that? I was always wondering why every time I dove into the CW and tried joining a party, it ALWAYS came back with "no parties found, wanna start one?" and each time I said yes, I would spend the entirety of the dive by myself.

I ran through RJP from start to finish, utterly alone, with three open team slots. Middle of the day. On a Friday. During summer, when no one has school. If I had done this before whatever these missions are, I mean, crap, man...it was striking gold just to find a competent team running RJP or FSC, and EVERYONE wanted those. Now, you can go on a whole boss run with nothing but tumbleweeds rolling around in your wake.

Makes me depressed. BTW, Roarmulus twins are still around, right?

In FSC D26 there is a fork after the first arena. Suggest going right at this fork and you will likely be met by indignation. Why? Because right is SLIGHTLY less profitable than left. My point is that it does not matter if payouts are made more equal, if there is one gate/mission/whatever that is even a little more profitable than the others, it will be played almost exclusively. And it has always been this way.

Before missions people still did FSC almost exclusively. And they generally did anything and everything possible to skip the CW levels before it. OOO just made this easier to do is all.
