There's no real non-SK discussion forum, and GD is the closest thing we have, so: show of hands, who's excited? *hand*

Really looking forward to playing a Monk. Like the style of the character, and using a staff. The early iterations showed the Monk able to reflect projectiles but it seems the preview version people got to play at some convention lacked this ability :'(

After the Monk I'll try Sorcerer and Barbarian. Disintegration Ray/Time Warp Zone Thing look pretty cool.

Edit: Woo! Off-Topic forum!

Can nottttttttttt wait, going to play that Demon Hunter Thingy (forgot its name) or a Monk. And then I'm going to take that character to Crashbolts house and steal his computer for ruining the fun.

Eh

I doubt it will be as good as D2.
Despite technology advancing so much, it will probably not add anything interesting, and just end up as a dumbed down version of D2 without such a good atmosphere.

Crashbolt - No, because

Crashbolt - No, because Blizzard Community != This Community.

The Rune system sounds pretty cool, don't know the current state but from what I heard you can drastically change abiltiy effects with them.

I'm excited but idk if it

I'm excited but idk if it breaks forum rules to post about other games.

When I was on the mythos forum and someone would talk about competing games, it was deleted.

I think they need to give us an off topic forum.

If they move it, they move

If they move it, they move it. But with the lack off an Off-Topic discussion, I don't see the harm in mixing up the topics here.

The mythos forum had a off

The mythos forum had a off topic but they still deleted anything that wasn't praising their game or giving them threat.

Ok let me fix that, I see how

Ok let me fix that, I see how effed up it is...sigh this is why I don't write when I'm upset and crying..

Anyways, what I meant was, I used to be a member of the Mythos forum and anytime someone would post a off topic discussion that pertained to another competitor's game, it would get deleted.

Also, if anyone tried to ridicule the game in anyway such as point out it's flaws or things that could be fixed, it would also be deleted.

Heck, at one point we weren't even allowed to discuss the open beta of Europe on the NA forum.

So a topic as innocent as, "Whose is looking forward to Diablo 3?" would be deleted as soon as a mod saw it.

it'll be fun pve, but it will

it'll be fun pve, but it will never beat bloodline champions pvp wise for me. I can say that with absolute certainty.

Bloodline Champions is

Bloodline Champions is without a doubt more balanced for PvP, but will it ever get a strong following? The USA side of that game is pretty thin these days...

But balance doesn't

But balance doesn't necessarily mean fun! Best PvP times in WoW was Vanilla/TBC. MACE STUN ROFOFOFOFOFOL

Personally I played Bloodline champions, the balance kinda made it bland (IN MAH OPINION) thus bored me out fast.

Yeah BLC is sick fun to play.

Yeah BLC is sick fun to play. And they don't release champs all the time so I'm content I can play it as a champ that's not overshadowed as long as I want. That's all I expect from balance considering I don't care about getting competitive.

Also the US playerbase allways has been like that sadly :<

(and how would balance make something bland when every skill of every champ is unique; unless you want to roflstomp)

I doubt every skill is unique

I doubt every skill is unique or does the job another skill already doesn't do, with a different name and a few numbers tweaked. And if it did then these people are obviously wizards. Simple nature of it is, the more unique everything gets the harder everything gets to balance, can't have both, but you can strike a middle-ground though.

This is why FPS/RTS are superior for competition. And I heard BLC was supposed to the competitive gamers cat-nip, hearsay, but non-the-less.

Most are. it's not numbers

Most are. it's not numbers but rather secondary effects changed. (well casting time and damage numbers too, but that's rather negligable..) Yes it's significant whether your mouse1 attack makes your casting times shorter or if it resets the casting time of one of your damage skills or if it stuns on third hit or if it lifesteals after hitting another ability, etc etc.
Even the couple of counter skills greatly vary in damage and effect. (effects range from aoe blind around you, to stunning and warping behind enemy, to turning invisble and warping to mouse cursor)
The buffs/shields, ranged secondary attacks, movement skills, target ground and aoe skills are rather varied too..
It's also rather balanced.
But hey I don't care about its competitiveness besides watching tourneys.

Of course balance is easier achived in an FPS with 1 gun.

edit:
some things are indeed pretty technical though. like knowing you heal some of the damage taken for the duration of the selfbuff applied when you hit your taunt as vanguard(tank), or what exactly applys those rage stacks on yourself (makes your mouse1 slash knockback+extra damage). or thet vanguard's shield bash debuff (-50% damage/healing) skill is reduced in efficiency if the targets affected are hit with damage skills.*
None of these particular effects are found on any other bloodline though and there are still more skills unique to that bloodline.

*alchemist (healer) has a simmilar debuff, just that it is single target projectile, which starts as progressively stronger slow (till 0%), and upon detonation inflicts 50% damage/heal debuff on target+enemies close to it. (no downsides); and ravener's ult (target ground+movement to loaction+damage) inflicts the effect too.

on the topic of ults, when you get the hang of a bloodline, rarely will you end a round without using it once or twice, even though whenever I see new people they never manage to get enough energy to ult. (Also comes from the fact that new healers somehow never heal enough)

The game only has a limited

The game only has a limited number of skills per champion correct? In which case it functions like guild-wars or LoL, limits your numbers of skills to maintain balance forcing you to create your own builds (more of a guild wars thing, though genius as far as I'm concerned). As far a balance and MMO/Arena games are concerned, this is the best way to achieve balance, counter-counter type play. And the game doesn't have that many skills, when you compare to guild wars (though that game has a lot of duplicates), or champions when you compare it to LoL (don't quote me on that, I'm far to lazy to research at the moment).

Trade-off in variety of choice then if you will, it still serves to make the game less colourful if you will, but that will be the trade off forever and ever, balance or flavour? Unjustifiable anger or boredom *sniffle*. Not that I harbour any ill-will towards the game, I just can't believe could be both THAT balanced and THAT fun over an extended period of time. Maybe I secretly hate indie companies!

Yeah it's a bit like LoL just

Yeah it's a bit like LoL just with more variety per champion and per skill. And many gamplay aspects are handled completely different. (aim, control skills, mobility, healing; and most importantly BLC is only the teamfight part (no items, mp, laning, gold, whatever), balanced around 3v3)

on the topic of LoL, it isn't so bad but if you want to be efficient you are quite limited in champ selection anyway. (played all champs quite a bit but there's just nothing to do after that; the direct pvp aspect is kept rather simple)
but with the games being longer (and item builds) in general and the huge amount of champs, LoL offers more content even if it's only that.

Anyway, I'd suggest everyone interested in BLC to play it to the point where you know what exactly every ability of just one bloodline does (and able to spam em at least), after that you can judge if every other bloodline offers something new or is just the same thing presented differently.

I was... I'm just a bit

I was...

I'm just a bit concerned with how Blizzard is releasing games now. They seem to be money grabbing a bit. I mean, SC2 in 3 releases instead of one? I'm fine with expansions later on in the lifecycle, but they specifically planned to split the game into three parts and charge full price for each. I'm not sure I'm cool with that as a customer.

That, along with the whole dumbing down of games lately.. I'm not sure I trust them to release another sequel with the same lasting appeal as the last. It already looks dumbed down when compared to D2/LoD, and if they play any money games with splitting the game up to make more money, I just don't think it will be worth MY time/money to get it.

Plus, I was 20ish when D2 was big.. it's been so long now, I just don't really care as much anymore (30+ now).

Sorry to say it's probably going to be the kids that never played D1 or even D2 that will enjoy D3.

/sadface.

Considering I'm still playing

Considering I'm still playing D2 on EHCL 10+ years I am pumped though I hope Blizzard doesn't screw it up. Also keeping my eye on other games like Path of Exile and Grim Dawn as well so even if D3 flops there's always those games.

I am not pumped for it

I am not pumped for it because I never played the first two (I personally don't like jumping into games if I've never played a single one in a franchise). Also, it will be stealing my precious Deslare from me. >:

Also- those Mythos guys sound like jerks. But I think it's okay in this forum, considering nick posted a thread talking about other games he's playing, encouraging people to post what they're playing too. >.>

I am still looking forward to

I am still looking forward to D3, but I am a little worried that Blizzard's obsession with overbalancing their games lately might have a negative affect on it.

Explanation of what I mean is summed up well here: http://seanmalstrom.wordpress.com/2011/05/17/overbalanced/

I noticed it in WoW long ago, and I guess it's kind of an issue in SC2 too (I don't play SC2 tho so I don't have any firsthand knowledge if it's true).

But I will buy D3 regardless. I will probably play the Witchdoctor first.
