I want to know what your thoughts for the best kiting loadout would be. Mine would be something like Vog Coat, Mercurail Helm, Combuster(other brandishes) Sentenza/AP, AoA, V V and a heavy shield. I don't really know but I want to know what you think the best kiting loadout would be for general purpose.
The Optimum Kiting Loadout
If you're kiting, then you're probably charging swords and bombs. You might be charging your guns, or using regular attacks on them. So you want lots of movement speed increase, charge time reduction, and damage bonus. Attack speed increase is also nice, but less important. So how about:
* Black Kat Cowl (or Mercurial Helm or Mercurial Demo Helm)
* Mercurial Mail or Mercurial Demo Suit
* Swiftstrike Buckler or Barbarous Thorn Shield
* Brandishes
* alchemers
* bombs
Also, it should go without saying that you could sacrifice movement speed increase for massive offensive bonuses by using Chaos armor instead.
Edit: Removed Perfect Mask of Seerus, which is good armor, but not especially kitey.
How viable would that loadout be? And also say I wanted my loadout based off of a Combuster and/or a GF, what would it be? Thanks a ton Bopp!
Well, if you're doing hit a runs anyways, why not use a Vile Venom Striker or Wild Hunting blade?
Five attacks and five steps with each swing taking you into whatever direction you are facing, super fast attack speed that gets into insane speeds with a single piece of Vog gear or a Swiftstrike buckler, and with a pretty quick shield cancel.
You'll be able to "slide" around large and slow monsters, "slide" around turrets in between shots, and slide around small groups of baddies while at the same time swinging your sword. Four swings, shield cancel, weapon switch or "dive" out of the way. In groups, you can rush in and draw aggro when your team mates are pinned into a corner and if you're brave enough, a bomber with a Vortex makes using its charge attack a bit safer.
Um ok Kl thanks but I don't really like fast swords as much, I prefer acrually using tactics and not just spam the attack button bit ya will think about it. Also how viable is the plate line particularly V plate set for FSC? Thanks!!
The loadout(s) that I described would be viable, certainly. So would the loadout that you proposed. But mine is even more kiting-oriented than yours.
When you're into choosing particular swords, you might want to consult my detailed sword guide.
Whether you want Combuster or Gran Faust should depend heavily on the damage types of your other weapons. (You always want a mixture of non-normal damage.) But I will say that Gran Faust has an extremely slow charge (much slower than Divine Avenger), that also slows down your movement by 20%, and that sometimes curses you. So GF is not a great charging weapon, in my opinion. If you want to charge a shadow sword, then look at Acheron.
I agree that Cutter-line swords would not be ideal for this loadout. The damage per second is not great, the charge attack is rather unsafe, etc. The Volcanic Plate set is viable for FSC, but it has nothing to do with kiting.
You're welcome for the help so far. I like to see people trying unusual loadout concepts.
I am really indecisive about this and I don't know what loadout to use. I am stuck between the kiting loadouts and the plate line. Thanks a ton! What one would you recommend for everything? Also I don't know what I should get with my 20 jelly tokens.I think It depends on what loadout I choose.
In the deep parts of the Clockworks, even the toughest armor lets through tons of damage. To stay alive, you must dodge, shield, and wait for the right moment to attack. There is no such thing as a "tank" class in Spiral Knights PvE. (There's a thread about this right now in General Discussion, I think.) So don't be under any illusion that the Plate lines make you invulnerable, or anything like that. I would go for the kiting loadout over the Plate loadout, because moving around quickly seems like fun, and it should help you dodge.
In truth, I would go for a different armor set altogether, such as Chaos, or the ones that I mention in my sword guide. But you and I are not the same person, and it's nice to see people using alternative sets.
I was thinking that plate wasn't very good but wanted some more input. I get where you are coming from but to be honest I really don't like negative resistances. Like what I started in my other thread, if you were doing an arcade with someone who was a status master what would status would you most want to him to be? Thanks!!
I don't have an opinion on the topic of your other thread. (That's why I didn't post there.) Happy travels.
Someone told me the best status effect for FSC is shock but Idk! I cant decide what effect to master it what my loadout should be. I may go for my kiting loadout because I don't think I will have enough for a Black Kat Cowl but ya what if for weapons I used Combuster, Storm Driver, Shivermist, Voltedge, VT and VV sound good?
No, that set of weapons is not good, because they are all elemental. You want a mixture of non-normal damage types, as I mentioned above. You should really read the wiki page "Damage", and/or the sword guide that I linked above.
Sry I totally wasn't thinkin when I wrote that, sry and Gus i have read them both several times
I think I will go for your build and for weapons use a Sntenza, Combuster, Storm driver, and Shivermist/GF/AoA/VV
Ya ok Think I will! I may have a piercing that I swap out depending on the level!
Mind moving this thread to the Arsenal? This forum is for buying/selling various stuff.
