It seems like more and more people are equipping bombs, anyone else notice? think this is true? Etc?
More and more bombers?
lol, I've been a bomber ever since I saw the power of Shivermist Buster, and I went like...I want to do THAT.
Shivermist Buster is mainly for part bomber// part swordie built.
I am a pure bomber and i dont find it as useful as ash =/ (apart from putting out oilers)
well OP never specified pure bombing >.>
I am slowly working my way up to nitronome...
I think that'll pass once people notice that they're not actually as good at killing stuff as it might look like. Most new bombers I've seen so far were much more into smashing / freezing things than in "monster herding & crowd control" - and were quite disappointed after a few runs didn't work out just like they imagined.
I'm not sure, but I think bombs just might look a lot different from how they actually work, because for most of the swordsmen it might not be easy to determine what actually kills the monsters so fast (= themselves + the other two swordsmen ;)) and attribute too much of it to the direct effects of the bombs.
While on a Jelly King run recently, we had someone join us with either a Fiery Atomizer or Ash of Agni. (I didn't check which it was, but it had a huge radius and caused fire).
For the levels leading up to the Jelly King, it was ideal for dealing damage to pretty much all monsters, and smashing them into the smoldering radii was excellent fun.
yeah, seeing shivermist in action tends to have that effect on people. everytime i join a pub with a newer player and bring out my shivermist i get ooos and aaahhs for sure.
also, shivermist buster >>>>> ash of agni :3
Shivermist is rather situational though (party graveyards, solo dark city). Unless you use calibur line of swords. (or party of calibur users)
I was interested in bombs since I first started playing about with them, but I give credit to Fallout for opening my eyes to the wider range of applications.
That's right, it's your fault I spent all that energy experimenting with different elements! XD
I've started seeing more bombers too, which makes me really happy.
Having a 5* haze bomb in an arena clears the room fast. Doesn't matter which - Ash for kiting and to soften up the targets for the swordfighters, Venom to debuff/stop healing or Shivermist to lock the enemies in place for easy charge attacks. If soloing, blast bombs make arenas and danger room incredibly easy. They can be used in parties too, just have to be careful to not disrupt the rest of the party.
When doing JK runs, I like to take an Ash and a Venom Veiler. When we get to the Garden of Goo, I'll solo the room on the right and the rest of the team goes left. By the time they've cleared out their side I'm done too, really breeze through those areas.
Bombs are not always the right thing to use though. If there is a lone monster, pull out a sword and kill it already. Charging three blast bombs to do the same is just wasting time (unless you are just playing around, which is cool.) Also, pay attention to where the knockback is flinging enemies. Don't fling attacking monsters into your teammates! I'm looking at you too Calibur users :) Also, don't push away monsters that someone was getting ready to charge attack.
Walking Fortess ( Jack of all Trades+ )
Gear: Gun+, Sword+, Bomb+, Shield+
Desc: A living tank, at the cost of your speed you become a unstopable powerhouse of weaponry, try to run into the middle of battle, and destory everything in your reach, because it will take you a bit to reach any enemies that are farther away from you, this class is VERY good at inflicting status effects
Cost: EXPENSIVE
hehe
You remind me, today I was talking about getting ancient plate set for Jelly runs. Then wearing it while charging a graviton bomb.
Me: "Nothing can hurt me now, I'll bomb those jellies to oblivion!"
Party: "Hurry up we are at the elevator already"
I've been helping beginners out of rescue camp and giving them spiral demo suit+helm. :O
More and more people are able to afford more than 2 weapons. It makes sense to have a bomb, just like it makes sense to have a gun... and a sword...
ugh...graviton...
I don't hate that bomb, I've just never used it but I finally had an opportunity to see that in action against my shivermist, it wasn't good. Either they could never trap enemies because I already had them trapped with Shivermist, or they'd pull an enemy in through the freeze somehow and get me hit >.>
Slime danger rooms + Maxed CTR Big Angry Bomb :D = perfect day
Have you seen a giant lichen colony fly? :D
I did JK with a guildie (hey Culture) who had the Venom Veiler and I think an Fiery Atomizer he was leveling. I've never had an easier or faster time in that fight. I freakin' love bombers in my group.
As for equipping bombs, I'm still very sword heavy. Usually I have three swords and one gun. I do have a Freezing Atomizer that I could equip...and while there have been instances where I thought "hmmm maybe I wouldn't have died such a fire-filled death to this oiler danger room if I'd had my Freezing Atomizer on me," I'm still not sure what to give up to make room for the bomb.
And i'd like to think it was all my doing *cough*...... but yes i have noticed.
and it's also a good thing, as now guns are the bottom end weapon whereas bombs had been (there was no denying it, sorry me) up until official release =D
