Now, this isn't a post about how the Gremlin AI should be made smarter. Even though gremlins can get a little derpy sometimes, they're plenty annoying as it is.

My idea is that players should be able to choose gremlins as characters. These player-gremlins would then do many of the same things that the Spiral Order does. Upgrade equipment, delve into the Clockworks, fight off monsters (slimes, beasts, undead, fiends, rogue constructs, Spiral Knights), etc. However, there would be major differences. Instead of the only weapon choices being guns, bombs, and swords, gremlins would be able to use hammers (melee damage only), wrenches (lessened melee damage and construct-only healing), healing staffs (ranged healing), flamethrowers (ranged-ish damage), mine-things (explosive damage), mortars (ranged explosive damage), and whatever else the current AI gremlins use.

What's this about constructs, you say? Since gremlins are the creators of the constructs, gremlins should be able to use "construct kits" as equipment. Each of these said kits would contain a single construct of any type, which could be upgraded much as Battle Sprites are planned to be. The player-gremlin could use this kit to spawn a construct which would follow them around much like a Mecha Knight Kit does. If the construct is killed, a 10-second recharge would be initiated.

For PvP, Lockdown and Blast Network could be modified slightly to be gremlin-accessible. But here's the main part of my idea. There could be a new, third PvP gamemode not accessible through the Coliseum, but through its own specialized window. This gamemode would consist of territory control, with teams of player-gremlins fighting teams of Spiral Knights for control of a map, the overview of which would be shown in the specialized window. Players from both sides wanting to enter could look at the window, see which territories are open for capture, and dive in to PvP mayhem!
