When you go through the Clockworks in the Arcade, you start out, either by yourself, or with a buddy. Soon, people start joining the party. Some leave the party, and other people take their place as THEY join the party. You all fight together, in clockwork tunnels, danger rooms, arenas, graveyards, ruins, maybe even boss levels, exploring under the surface of Cradle.

Then, when you get to the Core or a Town (depending on the tier), the TRUE treasure is neither the crowns you get, nor the minerals, materials nor the heat. The TRUE treasure is cooperation, teamwork... FRIENDSHIP. Not just adding the party members to your friends list, but working with each other, fighting together, and even though you don't know you they REALLY are, even though their identity is hidden behind their player names, you still remember them, almost like true friends in real life.

Friendship is worth, like, a derpbillion crowns, and those who can cherish it make the most of their adventuring. (even if they used a lot of energy reviving! :D)

I think this is the biggest thing people lose out on when they only do missions. You can't join missions midway through, and there's a limit to how long you can be bothered waiting around in a lobby. But arcade parties last for a good while and you pretty much never go through one alone, despite how much doomsaying people are making about the place.

Go run the arcade, dudes and dudettes! Meet some buds, have a good time! A lot of Spiral Knights have changed and will continue to change, but the Arcade is still there if you stop fixating on direct crown output (which isn't even that bad if you go all the way through).

That's part of the reason why I don't ever do FSC, because if they don't give me heat I get angsty and then kill them because the heat on FSC makes that worth it, and it takes out a lot of the fun in the game, when I'm constantly trying to fight my team down to get their heat. In the arcade, it isn't worth taking their heat, so I have more fun. Happened just earlier to-day. Then I have to go with someone I know so that I know I'll get heat. Just one reason of many.

I myself approve of some good ol' arcade loving every now and then..

But don't ever go hatin' on the missions!

The mission system is the future, the thing that determines our rank as a knight
Missions are what saved me from endless grinding, dood
After they were introduced I would spend lots of time in whatever gate Firestorm Citadel was in
Running it again, and again
Just so I could reach the ultimate rank of Vanguard

Now I also make lots of friends through missions
Whenever someone new asks if I could carry them through KoA because they needed the resources to progress through the rank missions I always oblige them
And that, that my friends, is the symbol of our mutual love for progress

That is friendship

oh the aracade

Yeah the arcade is more fun than work. You meet new people that are for the most part awesome. You also get to see what new players are equipping as their weapons, shield, and armor. There was this new player that was of knight rank, and the player said "I just run the arcade in hopes of getting more cr." Now I would have told him/her that their are more effective ways of getting cr, but I decided that I'll just let him/her figure that out on their own. The new player is eventful going to find out that boss levels give out more cr than a run through the arcade. So in the meanwhile, let him/her enjoy the arcade until the day that he/she figures out that there are better ways to earn cr.

I wonder how your friends list is actually stored, and if there is a way of bypassing the limit, actually... because you can never have too many friends, despite what Nick tells you!
