So heres the plan:
Phase I: Gate Creation
From what I can deduce, drops work based on status and monster type fought, as well as level fought on.... but this last part only seems to effect winmillion and treasure vaults, as far as I can tell, and Unity from KoE who did find a darkfang has said that arenas work for it, and are in fact preferable.... This conclusion is not set in stone, but seems likely based on the drop thread, found here:
Statusless = no drops associated.
Shock/Fire/Poison/Whatever = a bunch of stuff that isn't a darkfang shield.
Gremlins = Darkfang shields + heavy demo gear + deconstructor + a few other items
Every other monster (except maybe construct, which COULD share a drop set with gremlin, but why risk it..) = Also a bunch of stuff we don't want.
The optimal darkfang level, and only one that we'll likely see one drop in, would be Iron Edge Arena: Wrench Warfare as this fits the criterion above and houses a large number of boxes... we'll also need it to be in stratum 6.
Gremlins = Red + Blue minerals; and we'll want to build several gates to maximize the chances of finding what we want.
When/what gate?
Currently Diamond Skull gate; it is the next one up, and I'd like to find this/get it done asap.
Phase II: Box/Level Duplication
A common trick used at the end of danger missions is box duplication. Once you finish the danger mission levels, everyone should go solo prior to opening the boxes. At the end of that danger mission you get 40-50 boxes or so, which becomes 160-200 once people all go solo. This increases the number of materials and item drops found by 4 times the original amount. We'll want to use this in two ways, first, by having small party sizes to begin with, and 2nd, by bringing alts to kick afterward to get twice the boxes from the final section of the arena. The last part of an arena has 15 boxes, so each level completed with an alt gets us a substantial bonus to our chances.
Level duplication would further get us more arenas. If we have say, 64 people working with us, it should look something like this:
3 levels before arena: 1 party of 4 people; splits into 4 parties of 1 person at the end of the level; goes down
2 levels before arena: 4 parties of 4 people; splits into 16 parties of 1 person at the end of the level; goes down
1 levels before arena: 16 parties of 4 people; splits into 64 parties of 1 person at the end of the level; goes down
....64 ARENAS.... if all is done right.
Alt accounts can also help us with this.
2 levels before the arena: 4 people; each solos, goes down
1 level before the arena, each person carries 3 alt accounts to the end, the alt accounts then split and go down to the arena, and wait.
16 arena parties waiting.
Phase 2 will begin:
-When a suitable level is found
-When we have enough people with alts to assist us. I'm hoping for at least 10 people, preferably more. After this, a date will be set and we'll duplicate/farm as many statusless gremlin arenas as we can.
So why exactly would I spend my time and precious mist energy to help you in this task that has a low chance of succeeding? And even if it does succeed, who gets the shield, and what about the rest of us?
