"The Owsla are the strongest rabbits in the warren"

The warren is welcoming new members to it's cause. We are a guild who does not focus on PvP.... nor do we aim to have the largest guild hall, the most shufflebot kills, or even focus on breaking records long-established by some of the masters. We are a little of everything, and we welcome people with all variety of goals; at all ranks, sizes, and cultures. So: What does owsla stand for then? Owsla is a community... a group of many knights who come from the same wreck of the same ship, but are not leaves from the same tree. Owsla is a friendly and welcoming group who aim to watch ourselves gain skill together as one, and share laughs and moments all the way. We are a group that likes to be helpful, respectful, and be a part of this community, while being a community all our own. Still, Owsla is a guild with order and organization; in spite of the lack of a specified agenda. Owsla, in our own right, is a Diamond amidst a pile of rocks. We may not be the oldest, may not be the largest (Jempire is 2 guilds now.... seriously), and may not have a clear, common goal... but we are at least 5th in line for the best. To be part of Owsla means you are among a growing and respectful community; and have found a group of some of the best friends you will have in this game. Your experiences here will be like those of real life, in that you will remember them forever.

For those who wish to be one of the warren's strongest, you are requested to apply here at our site http://owsla.shivtr.com/. The application will allow us to verify that you understand all our rules, and help us find you. It is a simple process, and as soon as you are accepted on the site, you are among us.

For those who did not catch it: Yes, we do have some provisos... you are required to agree to our rules before being among us. Sadly, even some who claim to understand the terms do not. For them i have sad news: Those who violate and do not adhere to the rules are given a maximum of three warnings before subsequent disbandment and exile of the member. Meaning: If you fail to follow the terms you were made to hold oath to, you are removed. Forever. For easy citation, our rules are as follows, as quoted from our website:

- Don't beg for energy, crowns or gear
- Don't whine or be an emotional nuisance, Owsla doesn't want babies
- No blasphemy, swearing or acronyms of either. We mean it
- Be friendly, a team player and help others
- After 14 consecutive days of inactivity
(not logging on), you will be removed from Owsla
- One knight only, we don't want a guild full of alts, it's inefficient
- Harassment and descrimination of any sort (sexism, etc...)
will not be tolerated
- Warnings are issued for rule infractions and then removal from Owsla

It should be noted that, because inactivity is not a violation of the highest tier (and, in fact, not an infraction at all), that for those who are removed on grounds of absence, you are welcome back, and will always have a special spot in our ranks. All returning, inactive Owsla receive a restoration of former rank, and will be applicable to qualify for any tests they would have otherwise. Oh, silly me... never even brought up how that rank system is organized.

Simply put, Owsla operates off of a test-driven promotion system. When you are promoted in Owsla; it is a symbol of leadership, and veterancy as much as it is one of status. All Owsla recieve promotions in this manner:

- Entry level is recruit. At this level, you gain no bonuses beyond being among us, and are at the most basic level as far as perks go
- Member is gained automatically after one week among us. that week is your trial period, and staying here longer demonstrates that you both like this guild, and have respected our ruleset. At this level, you gain access to the member storage (empty until further notice on account of "grand theft mats", in which people have stolen up to 100k in mats)
- Veteran qualification is gained after 1 month of being among us as a member. Yes; i said "qualification". To gain the title of veteran, one must complete an Ironclaw munitions factory run, and be all 4-star to demonstrate experience both in-game and in Owsla. You must demonstrate both knowledge of the mission, and leadership to claim your title, and spot. At this level, you gain access to the veteran storage (which has been empty until further notice due to the same reason shown before), and the chance to edit the guild hall with officer supervision
-Officer qualification is gained 1 month following being a Veteran. Similarly to the Veteran test, you are expected to demonstrate knowledge of the mission and leadership... but instead of the Built to Destroy and 4-star requirement, we take it up a notch, and you must have 5-star gear and clear The Silent Legion showing all of the same qualifications. Being here means you are truly representative of what we stand for; and also means that you gain only the highest of honors. As perks; you gain clearance the non-emptied officer storage, full ability to edit the guild hall, the ability to test others, the option to recruit, and the ability to promote/demote anyone not yet at even ground with you... even administer kicks where necessary (Do NOT abuse, at penalty of immediate exile without warning)
- Guild Master, unlike all of the others, is quite special... very reserved. It is unable to be tested for, and is only appointed in times of GM absence, if at all. Next to NO-ONE has attained this rank through guild progression (one possible, the rest encompass our founder, and a personal acquaintance of her IRL.), even I, who have contributed much to our guild in my time here, do not hold this elite position. If you are the GM, you are the true embodiment of Owsla. You stand up for what it means to be among us, and are rightfully above everyone else. The grand total of 3 who hold this position are held in only the highest of regard

We host events for our members, too. We acknowledge birthdays where applicable, and also host weekly parties on saturdays at 8:00 EST (NOTE: time is currently under debate). Before these parties, our GM Admonish will give announcements on important news, and we will then proceed to begin. During the party, you will get to converse with many of our members; while playing games that can win you prizes of crowns or, occasionally, items. Party events currently include Find The Present, Trade Tag, and Movie Knight.

We gladly allow members to submit their ideas on more... as well as ideas for the guild in general. This can be done using the suggestions forum on our site. On our site, we also post important news, discuss current events, talk on in-game topics, and even have a spiral spy thread for those who like to get artsy with the game files

We have a mercenary division under development as well. Currently, we request one is a member before applying, and that application be made either online or via interview. More details on the website under one of the many threads on the topic.

If our guild appeals to you; come and join our tight-knit, social, and interactive community today. Register on our site at http://owsla.shivtr.com. We are eager to have you among us, and await your application with all of our available anticipation. Best of luck to you, fellow knights ;D

Feedback Recieved

I appreciate your feedback (unlike some people), and while this was by no means a place for feedback, let it be known that he will be informed on this perspective view of recruiting methods he is implementing. I am in one of the higher positions in the guild, but am certainly in no power to tell him not to do what he is doing. But i will do my best to let him know of the public opinion on this method that, at the very least, you (and surely some others) possess.

Officer Promotion Capability Witheld Until Further Notice

Made official as of earlier today, there will be no officer promotions for the time being, as it is felt that we have enough. The official website announcement as of 7/9/13, 5:18 pm:

"As of today, we have enough officers, I have been told, and I agree.

Promoting of new officers is frozen as of now, until it is deemed necessary once again.

I understand that not all of Owsla uses the site, but I believe they should. If any promotions are done for officer in the mean time, I will demote the individual back to veteran when I see that it's happened."

My Apologies

Hyper-Galactic, I apologize if my recruitment email inconvenienced you.

While 99% percent of the knights I send it to compliment me on its professionalism, and are happy to join, or just ignore it, there's always that 1% that has a problem with it. Pardon me if I took a few seconds of your time, when you deleted the mail.

Online application not currently mandated

New official statement from the guild administration made as of 7/23/13 at 5:49. Done as response to the recent member decline, joining members are no longer to be required to sign up through the guild website... though it is still encouraged, as you will miss out on announcements and stuff that isn't announced in-game; It shall no longer be a prerequisite for entry. To quote the official statement:

"Our numbers keep dropping. I am doing away with the application for now.

I am also interviewing people and inviting them on the spot.

Just make sure you have them agree to this:

Can you agree: not to use bad language, blasphemy, be friendly and a team player?

Thanks"

Simply put, at his point in time, should you desire to join, just approach one of our officers (the blue avenger, Thirteenth-Clone, UberGoldFish, worldwolver, Aboodalba, Alpha-Gamma, Amended, blackcandy, BLZekromZD, caralantha, Dark-Flame, DestroyerOfTheNort, Eat-Your-Kimchi, Icreep, Khaptain, Leahfour, Mille-Crepe, Potatomonsta, Raven shadow, Sbina, Sitonabuscuit),
or a GM (Admonish, Faithwarrior, Phantom-Saint), And request entry.

Of course, at this point, it is also liable to apply right here by simply requesting entry and agreeing to follow our terms

Testing requirements have changed

Yet another new statement on the guild site from admonish on 7/25/13 at 6:51. Again on testing, this time; not changing the access to tests. The tests themselves have changed and i shall edit the OP to reflect this [Edit: Just did]. The official post:

"This is the way it's going to be from now on:

Veteran test: Candidate must be all 4-star, lead the mission "Built to Destroy", have knowledge of the mission, show leadership skills and must finish the mission.

Officer test: Candidate must be all 5-star, lead the mission "The Silent Legion", have knowledge of the mission, show leadership skills and must finish the mission"

Note: Despite the listing of a new officer test, i cannot confirm with certainty as to wether this means officer testing is back yet or not, as the posts have nothing about that; but when it does if not, these shall be the requirements.

About the spam invites...

To anyone else who will rage about spam invites:

This is a common thing for guilds who want to help people new to Spiral Knights. For example, a young newbie that I came to shorten her name to Chadel joined the guild not to long ago. She was quite full of energy, but she had many problems trying to get around socializing since she never the what some of the chat commands did. A few of the guild members including the leader and me (btw, i am still a new recruit.) helped out Chadel by giving her equipment, fun, and plenty of guidance about what she asked of the guild. Every time you log on, the guild leader will usually be the first to greet you, and he funds most of his own guild. You would only get kicked out from the inactivity rule, and this rule is only meant to make sure everyone in guild are still around to have fun. So next time you see an invite by Owsla, join it for a bit and socialize with the community. It doesn't hurt. Of course, the guild leader may not remember who he already invited to the guild, but he is human. lol
