How effective would equipping a Fang of Vog as a backup weapon be, if you're a bomber wearing full volcanic? And if Fang isn't a good choice, what are the recommended melee weapons for bombers (from what I've heard, sealed sword derivatives and winmillion are considered the best options, with the leviathian blade being the budget friendly choice)?

point of a bomber sidearm
When bombers have time to charge, they should be charging their bombs, not their sidearms. Thus a bomber will almost never use the charge attack on his sidearm sword or gun. The sidearm exists solely for emergencies, where the bomber is surrounded and doesn't have time to charge. (If he does use his sidearm more than this, then I view him as a hybrid, not a bomber.) In such a situation, he wants a weapon whose regular attacks can damage and knock back many close monsters at once.
Thus the best sidearm swords are Divine Avenger, Gran Faust, Sudaruska, and Triglav. Choose DA and GF, and carry the one that is more appropriate to the level, if you have the money to get both and want to optimize your damage a little bit. Choose Sudaruska or Triglav if you want just one sidearm sword --- not optimal, but cheap.
Consider also Valiance. The regular attack knocks back a bit, even at close range, and they have fast bullets (unlike Polaris/Supernova).
Leviathan is a nice, general-purpose sword, and Fang of Vog is basically a super-Leviathan. However, the main strength of these swords is the charge attack. As I've explained, that shouldn't be a bomber's focus.
Edit: Consider also a piercing sword, if you're having trouble with fiends. But if you rely on the sword for fiends, then I'd say that you're more of a hybrid than a bomber.

Ok, thanks for the info (side note, I'm asking about yhia on behalf of my friend who is building a bomber, not myself). They were planning on having the fang, levi, and GF and using which ever was best suited to the situation/enemies, and just wanted to know if using the fang was viable at all.

Yes, Fang of Vog is viable. It just doesn't offer any great damage (slow, not very powerful strokes, but fire) on regular attacks. It doesn't offer great safety (no quick strokes to interrupt, little knockback, etc.) on regular attacks either.
Your friend's plan of switching among Fang, Levi, and GF sounds totally fine. I mean, there are cheaper ways to solve the problem of bomber sidearms, and there are ways that get you slightly more damage, but your friend's plan is more than adequate. In fact, if he doesn't have Levi yet, then he shouldn't bother crafting it. Just go with Fang or GF.
Normal damage sword. As a bomber, you are supposed to focus on crafting (and using, of course) bombs, which means you need just one sword for all situations. Fang of Vog is cheapest and it's a good sword but it's useless when fighting gremlins or beasts. Levi is fine but Sudaruska and Triglav are more fun to use.
