I'm a novice LD player starting out in T2, and I've been hearing the phrase "Skolver Clone" tossed around quite a bit. I know what the common layout for that clones is, but I'm not seeing why people are complaining about it so much. To me, it just seems to be the natural result of people figuring out what the best laodout is.
And given that every time I log on I'm greeted by a sea of these clones, does anyone know of a good counter-clone loadout?
Pretty much who uses Skolver and the other wolver lines. They're called clones because pretty much everyone has wolver gear in haven :l
Counter Clone Loadout:
Anything other than the Wolver lines, although I THINK Barbarous Thorn Shield is ok though, not sure.
You could go for anything, really.
Ancient Plate
Volcanic Salamander
Divine Set
Royal Jelly
I think Brandishes are ok, though.
Leviathan Blade? (Charge is amazing)
Sudraska? (I think is how it's spelled)
Final Flourish and BTB I think is fine, because no one really wants to use The Rigadoon/Flamberge lines.
Venom Veiler?
DA/GF I think's ok. Since Brandishes were released they haven't been so popular.

The Skolver Clone's counterpart is the Dusker Clone. Equipped with a Swift Flourish, Sealed Sword, Rocket Hammer, and Kilowatt Pulsar.
In my opinion, the best non-clone, counter-clone loadout is a Hammer, Quicksilver/Elemental set, pulsar/blaster, and a shock bomb.

A "Skolver Clone" is slang for pretty much 90% of the people listed here.
You dont need to actually wear a Skolver set to be a "Skolver Clone". The typical loadouts include: wolver, sealed, pulsar, flourish, hammer, valiance, chaos, shadowsun, black kat cowl. These are used simply because other gear actually require skill, which is undesirable.
"Look at me guys, im wearing a dragon scale set therefore im the best player in the game"

Also, im pretty sure wearing a Skolver makes you a "Skolver Clone", Chaos, shadowsun or BKC can make you a "Kat Clone" or "Chaos Clone" or anything else but a skolver clone... simple logic which obviously you lack of.
By definition, Skolver Clones do have to use Skolver. If you wanted to expand to Wolver Clone or even just "Clone", then you would be right. But the OP is asking for "Skolver Clone".
And Clone weapons are used because they are just as effective as other weapons, but allow more room for error and require less skill to be effective with. Why use a brandish (no charge) instead of a flourish when they are about the same speed and do about the same amount of damage, but the Flourish has a wider range? Why would you use a Triglav instead of a GF, when the GF is faster and less people have defense against it? Why would you use an Arc Razor instead of a TSB, when you're sacrificing damage for mobility with a class that lets you run at a million miles per hour? People use "Clone" weapons because they are equal or better effectiveness, without requiring as much expertise. It's common sense, and the only way to fix it is to rebalance the game.
That's why I'm wondering why there's so much hate being directed at clones. "Curse you, Skolver clone, for using the most logical weapon loadout you can! I will have my revenge!" Clone gear doesn't seem like its OP or prevalent because people are lazy and don't want to come up with a different setup, but because they've been on the wiki and deduced that the clone set is the most effective setup they can use.

Kat/Chaos might be better for people going for hybrid but for people going full swordsman, Skolver is the way to go.
"Skolver Clone" is a derogatory term used to describe a female lizard in late pregnancy.
Canozo is a textbook example of a "Skolver Clone" with his Black Kat Cowl, Toothpick, Gran Faust, etc.
Once again , you do not need to actually wear Skolver to be called a "Skolver Clone". It is simply a slang term to describe the typical LD player who wears the easiest loadouts in the game and calls himself/herself pro.

What if I told you that "Pro People" that you are accusing for being skolver clones, can beat nearly everyone with any gear? What if I told you that I know several people can perform perfectly in proto armor? What if I told you that these pros can play with any weapon, and pwn the crap out of people? It would be suicidal if use weapons that aren't suitable for LD because of it's utility or other thing.
It would be stupid to use Blitz in LD, since it's slow, invincibility frames rendered it useless, and makes open for any attack. What weapons do you want us to use? Wild Hunting Blade isn't used a lot, because the Dread Venom is better, and yes, there are people who pwn with it. Triglav? There are several people who use it, but why would I use it over a GF/DA? They have the same mechanic, with advantage for GF/DA because of speed. All guns are used in LD except for Needle Lines and Iron Slug because Callahan is way better, and have the same mechanic too. Bombs? All bombs are used, but it's the bombers that are few in LD.
By your logic, to be a pro in any FPS, I should only play with a knife, pistol, grenades, then moan about people pwning me with Snipers and Rifles.

Skolvers clones are dead with the maj of the black kat. And "To counter a clone, turn into a clone and kill the clone", that's why the LD look now like a firework party, totally unplayable, thank you guys !
@Thinslayer: Excuse me? I've handled plenty of clones with a BAB alone! And I daresay I have ¡NOT! turned into a clone! (Anda, I need not mention, a Graviton Vortex!)

A skolver using Final Flourish, gran faust and polaris, and yeah, as a clone, most people figure out this is the best swordsman loadout you could have (unless you want to go hybrid), but some people cant handle the clones and cry about them
To counter a clone, turn into a clone and kill the clone.
