I know the heart pendants are the standard but I've been thinking of replacing one of them and picking up a Dread Skelly Charm, which would be for Citadel and costs 100 grim sparks while giving nice shadow defense, or the 100 forge spark fire resist pendant. Is sacrificing a tetra (+5 hp) worth adding the fire resist or shadow def? Would sacrificing 2 tetras be suicide or what? Like let's say 2x fire resist pendants or 1x dread skelly + 1x fire
Trinkets discussion
^ Thanks. I'll stick with the tetras
Well a buddy and I did some testing.
A zombie on floor 27 of the Duke palace hits a friend for 8 damage, a zombie hits me for 6. I don't have the trinket, I have a UV Vog High Shadow resist coat, which equates to two bars of shadow resist (the trinket is one and a half I'm pretty sure). Zombies also do half normal, half shadow damage (at least that's what it looks like). From my quick calculations that's a 25% damage reduction from a zombie swipe.
This was a quick adhoc test conducted by me and a friend and we only took a few hits from the zombies (3ish at full health each time) so the results aren't conclusive and my mathematical abilities are certainly open for debate. I'm also unsure if the mitigation is percentage based or just a -set amount of damage, but the test leaves me to conclude the latter.
On another note, there are some serious item balancing issues in SK. It's pretty ridic that a trinket costing 100 Forge sparks, which takes ages to accumulate, is basically useless. I figured as much since it's only two bars: picture.
Don't even get me started on armor/weap balancing...
@Rap
That doesn't sound too bad. I had a feeling the Dread Skelly would be decent... is that 3 full bars: picture. Compare that to the fire res charm which is barely two...
Btw, what about Heavy Armor Ward... only 3 stars but looks like it gives 2.5 bars of normal def, so +5 bars on normal def if you wear two. Since everything does part normal damage in Tier 3, not too shabby? picture. Could allow you to wear one of the items without normal defense like Divine Veil or whatever
I don't include the first nibbly bit as anything, I'd consider that a bar and a half. The status resists are a giant waste of poop, but if mitigations works on straight deduction basis in this game (and if it's bar for bar, as in two bars on the summary = two bars damage negated, that's what my test suggested, not concluded) damage reduction could be very very uber if you stacked it right.
On that note however zombies would have to do way more than half normal half shadow, they'd have to do like 80/20 because I have wwwwway more normal mitigation than shadow and I still took at least 2-4 bars of normal damage. Maybe defence has diminishing returns?
Isn't that normal damage res trinket unobtainable?
Yeah, I just checked. The normal one is unobtainable :( Lame
Probably would've been too good, especially on a cost-value basis.
2 bars of status resist is pretty significant, at least with some of the status effects. It's more of a balance issue with some of the statuses rather than the trinkets themselves. With poison at least, 2 bars drops my duration from 8s to 4s which is worthwhile imo. Freeze on the other hand didn't seem to make a difference at all when I had two 100 token trinkets.
>Fire resist trinkets are useless if you have a full meter of fire resist
Someone tested this already?
I'm still hoarding forge sparks.
I want to be immune to fire!
I did, using tons of different gear combinations on different levels. I don't even remember exactly what I tested, to be honest. But overall, I have two vog sets - One with Maximum + Medium fire resist UVs, the other without, and one 5* fire trinket.
From my testings, the only real difference would be immunity to Vanaduke's Fire Snakes. I really don't remember having fire defense past one full meter helping with anything else at all.
It was kind of disappointing to equip my Maximum, Medium and the trinket, then use FoV to get inflicted by fire for the exact same duration and damage per tick as if I had just one full bar. :(
Buh, that sucks.
Going to get elemental trinkets then.
Pupu,
Don't forget about the shock trinkets you can get for forge tokens :o
Fire resist trinkets are useless if you have a full meter of fire resist, (that is, as much as a five star set with fire resist would give you.) unless you plan to use it against Vanaduke to be immune to his fire snakes. (not even sure if just one trinket would help?)
As for the defense trinkets... They are a little helpful, but in my opinion, not nearly as good as Heart Pendants would be. From what I remember, my Radiant Crystal Pin (Elemental defense five-star trinket) only really reduced damage by a single bar. (maybe less or more, I last used it weeks ago) If you cannot affort heart pendants, I'd say to go for the defense ones - But if you do have a Dual or better, I'd say to use that. In your case, a tetra? Certainly better than defense trinkets.
