Asking for help because I will need it in the future. I play spiral knights on my mac. I can't play fullscreen on my laptop pc (crashes and I get a blue screen). What i'm planning on doing is:

  1. Get a screen recorder for mac (full version)
  2. Move video to my other laptop
  3. Render with Sony Vegas Pro 11
  4. Upload to Youtube.

If you have any advice that can help me out I would appreciate it if you can post here. Not a spiral Knights video. Just a test video I made.

You talking about a mac desktop or laptop? I have a mid 2010 macbook pro and it can't even handle vana runs without me having to see 2 seconds into the future for everything. So I stick with my CS/Engineering course work handmade desktop, which also functions very nicely as a gaming computer. I've never tried used an iMac or anything like that though.

I got the exact same problem.

Well, I wouldn't say it's a problem, but what's wrong with playing on Mac anyway?

Nothing's wrong with it, but the hardware in my desktop blows my MBP's away. Intel i7-3770k, dual Radeon HD 7850s, 16GB RAM... I use it for 3D modeling and design as well as coding. Like I said, it also doubles nicely for games. I like my MBP, and iMovie is still my favorite video editing/creation program for ease of use. But my desktop just does games better.

I was asking MBP vs iMac, since iMac might be able to handle it while the MBP probably couldn't

apples to oranges

Yes, Apple desktops come with more computing power than Apple laptops, just like PC desktops come with more computing power than PC laptops. Laptops have had weaker performance than desktops for decades, just because of the constraints of miniaturization and power usage.

Keep in mind that at this point in history, the core hardware (bus, CPU, RAM, graphics card, etc.) in Macs and PCs are identical. The computers differ primarily in their software, peripherals (screen, ports), and cases.

How is everyone misreading my posts? It's like no matter what I'm talking about people decide what I'm saying without actually reading the post or its context.

I am not saying macs run the game worse.

I am not saying my desktop is better than my MBP just because it's not a mac. I wasn't comparing them at all. My MBP has midrange i5 processor, 4GB of ram, and a Nvidia Geforce GT 330M. Put those in a Windows 7 laptop, and it'll still get blown away by my desktop. It's a hardware issue, not the operating system.

The only thing I've actually said this thread is that a mac laptop probably can't while the iMacs and such could because of better hardware.

my laptop (mac) specs:

Model Name: MacBook
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB

Other laptop (HP) specs:

Here

What sources are good and reliable?

I do not know what all this means. Would it be possible to record? Would it be best in Full screen or windowed (if it's windowed I can record on my laptop pc).

Have you heard of twitch.tv? You can upload stream videos on their site and I believe as/after you make an account they show you several legitimate recorders you can use.

Also, based on your specs I would probably suggest running SK windowed on the HP. But you can try it with the mac

Randomzz: I was asking MBP vs iMac...

Bopp: Yes, Apple desktops come with more computing power than Apple laptops...

How did I misread your question? Didn't I exactly answer your question?

no

I was asking the OP whether he had one or the other. You simply told me the information that I already knew, the information that was the whole reason I was asking what he had in the first place.

I understand now. I was indeed telling you exactly what you already knew. Sorry for misinterpreting your question. Happy travels.

I'm planning on getting a gaming desktop pc. So until then I guess there'll be no recording from me.
