Processor: Intel i7-2630QM, ~2 GHz
Memory: 6144 MB RAM
Operating System: Window 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Video card: I have Nvidia Optimus. My integrated card is Intel HD Graphics 3000. My dedicated is Nvidia GeForce 555m.
I play Spiral Knights on Steam and have been having this issue for a very long time (I've just recently wanted to get back into SK, so I'm trying to solve it now).
So I've done everything I could to stop Spiral Knights from crashing. My Intel and Nvidia graphics cards are both the latest (Nvidia: version 320.49, Intel: version 9.17.10.3062). I have Java 32 and 64 bit, both latest (Version 7 Update 25). I have done the following: uninstall Spiral Knights (delete local content on Steam), install/upgrade your Java (both 32 and 64 bit) and then reinstalled Spiral Knights. I have noticed that in the Spiral Knights Steam folder (\steamapps\common\spiral knights\java_vm\bin), the java.exe is still listed as version 6.0.250.6 after I've installed the latest Java version. Is this supposed to be this way?
I have set up Nvidia Control Panel so it runs java.exe (in SK Steam folder) as high-performance. I've made sure my firewall lets java through. Still, my laptop seems to be having trouble running SK on low quality, full screen, resolution 1366 x 768. I can get into Haven most times, but simple things like running through town, entering the Auction House menu, inspecting gear, starting a Vanaduke run, etc. will often trigger an error message and force close the game:
The error message: "The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver due to exceeding the Windows Time-Out limit and is unable to continue. The application must close."

Any help would be appreciated. I've been installing/uninstalling software all day trying to fix this...
EDIT: More info: running on a low resolution (1024x768) does not help. I can play games like LoL, Civ 5, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed, etc. just fine, too.

Those games use DirectX instead of OpenGL. That's why they work. That's all I can say.
Did you update the drivers manually or thru windows update? Microsoft cheats by messing up opengl on purpose with their automatic updates.
