Dunno if anyone else has noticed this, but the filter options only affect your text.

For some reason, even though my filter is off, I still see comicified swears and other people can see when I swear because my filter is off.

Unless it's some kind of conspiracy and people are pretending to comicify swears and see mine, this might be worth fixing.

I think what you're saying is

I think what you're saying is correct. To my knowledge if your chat filter is off others are able to see your expletives and if it is on others cannot. I haven't bothered testing it, since it doesn't honestly concern me, but I just wanted to bump this and agree with you.

Since this hasn't received

Since this hasn't received any Mod attention or any other player feedback, I am bumping it.

Seems like something you would want to fix, since you enforce these things so adamantly on the forums.

If it works the same as the

If it works the same as the filter on Puzzle Pirates, which would not be surprising, both parties must have the filter disabled for the text to come through unmangled. The filter is applied to text coming in, and going out. That would explain your observation that others' text is comicified even though your filter is off. It's possible that the other observation, that your text appears unfiltered for them, is due to you using a word that you expected to be filtered but is not. I was a bit surprised to see an unfiltered expletive which is also a common nickname and dated term for a private detective, the other day. Did you try many words, or was this one particular word that caught people's attention?

I definitely find it odd that private detective is okay, but the synonym also meaning rooster or tilt or lift and the non-vulgar word to which these are vulgar references, are filtered. Yes, it's a common nickname, but surely its vulgar use is dominant in the context of an MMO?

That's correct. If you disable your chat filter, you'll see your own messages uncensored, but that doesn't mean everyone else will.
