Two days ago a certain player proposed a deal of 1000 CE for a copy of Operation Crimson Hammer. I have wanted the DLC for a while now, and so did a guildie, so I offered to buy two for 2000 CE. Once we had discussed the deal a bit in steam chat, I invited him to trade. In the trade he exclaimed that the two DLCs weren't appearing in his inventory and that instead of just adding them in the trade he would gift them to me after the CE was transmitted.
I felt like this could be a bad trade, and possibly a scam, so I checked his profile to make sure he had some good rep (even though he seemed trustworthy and honest in chat). This checked out and but I also decided to take several screenshots of the agreement, the trade, and the proof of trade as precautions.
Despite my precautions, as soon as the CE was transferred he bailed, took himself of my friends list, changed his steam name, and blocked me. After this happened I of course reported him in game, reported him on steam, and filed a support ticket. Here are the screenshots:

The agreement in the trade window:

The addition of CE:

Proof of trade after he changed his name/bailed (thank god for trade histories on steam):

Any help would be appreciated.

All of the links lead to the same pic.

I had a typo in the last two (which is fixed now). They all lead to different pictures for me. Also, if they still lead to the same picture you can click the links above the picture that say First, Second, Third, Fourth... etc.

Since this trade was conducted through steam, I doubt there is anything the SK folks are going to be able to do for you, and it sounds like you've already done everything you can do anyway--reporting him, etc. Obviously hold onto those pics, but there is no reason for this thread. Might as well edit and move it to the graveyard.

Damn you, hindsight!

What you should have done for security is given him 500CE, he gifts you the first one, you give him 1000CE (second half of the payment for the first one, and first half of the payment for the second), he gifts you the second one, and then you finalise the deal by giving him the 500CE payment.

Or you could just not trust someone if they offer you something cheaper than what it normally is (OCH is usually 2500CE) or consult the forums before believing someone who says "oh no, such and such isn't working, let's do two separate trades".

My advice is to never accept lame excuses. Just because he had a tidy profile doesn't mean he won't try to scam you if he gets the chance.

All scammers and creepy uncles with candy vans are smooth talkers. They WILL sound thrustworthy, else they wouldn't fool anyone.

Why would you do that? If he can't give DLC in trade and will give it after the CE, how would he do it? Mail it?

This may sound stupid and nonsense, but how about asking for a middle man? If that scammer couldn't give it, give your CE to the middle man. Ask the scammer for DLC. Still doesn't work? Well then, cancel the deal because he probably tried every way to give DLC, but that didn't work.
