Well, I'm bored, and currently, I'm being loyal to Danganronpa - The Animation, but it's taking forever to upload new episodes.

So, while I'm waiting, anyone like to suggest a nice anime to supply the five-day wait for a new episode?

Black butler is boy love.

Dagan ronpa is pretty good. Though it's quite possibly the most easialy spoiled anime on the internet due to it's popularity, nature, and the fact that it's based off of a video game.

Black butler is boy love. Don't do it man, don't do it.

AOT is pretty cool. However it's INCREDIBLY PREDICTABLE at the start. Eren's mom's death is the most obvious thing ever; the dad has to go off to work, then kids run off angry, mom all home alone with unfinished parenting business. Death flag times nine thousand. I don't consider it a spoiler because it's really that easy to see coming. Then there's the part where Armins like "Yeah, a titan could break the wall at ANY SECOND" and BOOM, down goes the wall. Totally didn't see that one coming. Of course, I think that's because the start of the show is considered to be an extended prologue. It's worth the watch.

-"Sword Art Online" was amazing. At first it draws in people like me who want to watch a "Lets slack and play in videogame land" style anime, but then they throw in scary things like character commitment (gamers commit to nothing!) and give you the feels. My only problem with it is how the first half takes place over the course of two years, second half is just one week. It gets a little kinked in the second half. I wasn't bothered, but it caught me by surprise since the first half was so vanilla.

-"Steins Gate" is a good time travel anime that won't set off your "that's not possible!" alarm. Has good comedy and even involves literal genderbending. Also gives incredible feels. Movie coming soon!

-"Chu-2" is a hilarious rom-com poking fun at people who think they can act like anime characters in real life, but it also sends the message to not grow up too quickly or ever forget the kid in yourself. It directly parodies Another (the show) and a few other animes. Season 2 is coming out eventually! And a movie soon!

-"Oreimo" is both hilarious and feel giving, but it's not completely... acceptable to some people. It starts off with Kyoske finding an erotic game belonging to his younger sister, however it's directed towards players with a younger sister fetish. When he discovers its hers, she decides to make him her life-counselor since she can't talk about her otaku habits with anyone else. Nothing explicit is in the anime at all, watch it if you aren't bothered.

-"Watamote" is GUT BUSTING. It's about a shut in girl who want's to have friends, so they throw in some boo-hoo, but it's not the typical "the world hates her for no reason! feel bad for yourself through her!" type show; Tomoko actually gets whats coming sometimes, and the whole thing is hillarious although slightly more inappropriate than oreimo because of the swearing. You hear the character think allot, and people swear more in their heads, etc.

Only homo character from Black Butler is Grell (red-head reaper). That's it. The Undertaker might also be homo. But every other character isn't.

Attack on Titan for ongoing

Attack on Titan for ongoing anime. If you're looking for older stuff then it'd be easier to know what you've watched already. Gankutusou / Count of Monte Cristo is always a good watch though. If you can stomach the art anyway, it's not for everyone.

Black butler is boy love. Don't do it man, don't do it.

Homophobia is bigotry. Don't do it man, don't do it.

Trust me, there are much more surprising things within the anime/manga; I've really spoiled nothing. I'm pretty sure everything I mentioned takes place within the first episode. Saying "Erens mom dies" is like saying "Harry Potter has no parents". Plus the titan knocking down the front gate is generally the poster image of the anime, there's no way to watch it without knowing that the titans breach the human sanctuary.

"Only homo character from Black Butler is Grell "
I'm gonna pull the figure-of-speech line here. Trust me I don't mean it's literal yaoi.

"Homophobia is bigotry. Don't do it man, don't do it."
I'm not frowning upon homosexuals, I'm poking fun at anime that is based mostly off of fan service. Furthermore, BL anime is generally directed at women. Seriously, think before you call me out for not being the liberal human rights advocate I actually am.

It's amazing how I'll get indirectly thrown personal insults like "homophobe" and "bigot" by someone who doesn't even know me because I made fun of a television show that they might not even watch.

My suggestions

I don't watch a lot of action anime, so I may not be able to cater to your tastes, but these are what I like. They are mostly focused around Romance and Comedy.

IMHO, the first season of Pokemon was the best. But enough about that.

Legend of Avatar? Not sure if it counts, but whatever.

Angel Beats is one that is really good. Watching anime without watching this is liking eating a bowl of Lucky Charms and throwing away the marshmallows. This anime is about a boy who becomes involved in battle in a high school in the afterlife.

Seto no Hanayome is a love comedy about a boy who must marry a mermaid that comes from a gangster family. I'm currently re-watching this right now.

Ebiten is about a boy who joins an Astronomy Club, except this club does many crazy stuff other than studying stars. This is a parody.

Mashiroiro Symphony is about when a boy's school must merge with an All-Girl's school, and the boy (named Shingo) must get along with the girls as he is part of the test merger.

Kill Me Baby is about a High School Girl, her friend the serious assassin, and a unusual ninja. This one makes me laugh.

Mondaiji tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo is about three people with "super"powers who go to a different world in order to compete in games and help their own "guild."

Nyan Koi is about a boy who is allergic to cats, yet must help them in order to remove a feline curse placed upon him. Also, he is trying to gain a certain girl's attention, but cannot tell anyone about the curse.

Toradora is about a cute yet aggressive girl who teams up with a mean-looking yet genial boy so that both of them can get the boy/girl of their dreams, respectively. This one is also pretty good, imo.

I support Green-Neko's support of Acchi Kocchi.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. It's hard to explain this one, so look it up yourself.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? A high school boy becomes a zombie thanks to a necromancer, and he is soon joined in his daily life by a magic chainsaw-wielding girl and a vampire ninja.

These shows are not currently airing; their seasons are complete.

@Kamen-Rider-Faiz

I'm a pretty diehard gundam fanatic, but I wouldn't say they're all good. AGE was supposedly crap, Gundam wing was teenage BL, and G Gundam was so-bad-it's-good super robot logic.

Gundam Build fighters looks good, but the OVA they had of Gunpla-Builders did have a few overdone "I'm-a-commercial!" aspects to it. Still, it's a show about battling other kids with your toys. It's the anime I've waited for since I was 10 for christs sake! :S

Soul eater is good, I shoulda suggested it, but it got rushed at the end of the series. Worth it to read the manga after you finish the anime.

Oppsite.

Instead or recommending an anime you should see, I will recommend an anime YOU SHOULD NEVER SEE, if you see this anime, close your browser, delete your all your internet history and close your computer, also, bash your head against a wall so that you forget it.

Don't ABUSOLUTELY ever watch

Stich!

Yes, don't search about it, don't look about it, if you see it do what I said, and just forget you ever saw it.

It will ruin your childhood like it did with mine, just don't search or ask about it, COMPLETELY ignore and you see it available and accidentally click on it, pretend you are blind and deaf.

If you don't follow my advice, your childhood will be ruined and there will be no coming back.

Of couse if you haven't seen the prequel of the anime, you should, and then DON'T WATCH the anime or it will ruin your childhood.

@Kami

Deathnote is kinda a bad representation of anime as a whole imo. I'm not saying it's terrible, but waaay too many people think that ALL animes are like death note or code geass where there's a genius teenager who outsmarts adults with the aid of some cool gruesome power to make kids feel cool and mature.

Watch chuunibyou. It parodies that genre so hard, you will laugh you buttock off and then cry tears of joy and sadness when it gets into the thick of things.

>finds anime recommendation thread
>Twin Peaks is not listed

Well, TV Tropes hasn't infiltrated yet, I suppose....

Here, have have a list, some of these are fansub-only and nearly all of them exceed Spiral Knights' content rating:

  • Anything on Toonami, they do a good job of curating their lineup to have good anime. (Well, unless you're a SAO hater, but if you were you wouldn't have started this thread.)
  • Eyeshield 21: It's a wacky shonen anime about American football. That alone makes it cool. Never dubbed IIRC. YA-HA!
  • Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon: The original Japanese version, not the terrible dubbed versions distributed by DiC. Just got the fansub for this one, it's fluffy and formulaic, but still somehow entertaining. If you like Power Rangers you'll have fun with this.
  • Psycho-Pass: Cyberpunk as all get-out. Think Minority Report meets Judge Dredd and you're about there. I like it, but when my local anime club played the first four episodes half the people present left during the first episode. Your mileage may vary, of course. Never dubbed.
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion: aka "Hideki Anno is clinically depressed: The Animation." Infamously confusing, but still one of the essentials. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe, you'll curl up in the corner and wonder why you were even born. For slightly less confusion and significantly better animation, watch the various movies that take things in a slightly different direction from the original series. Things still go horribly for everyone involved, but that's part of the show's appeal.
  • Kaiba: Also cyberpunk as all get-out, but with a style reminiscent of Disney. Mostly about the social and psychological problems that crop up when something that basically digitizes the soul comes along. Hexzyle likes this anime, apparently. Watch out for the second episode; it gets better after that, I swear.
  • Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Japan's answer to adult comedies like South Park, only actually funny instead of being pure trolling. Very, very NSFW.

A wild cheese appears!

I don't know what genre of anime you like, so I'll recommend the ones that I have seen and thought were good.

Fairy Tail. Action packed, as well as comedy. Just finished watching it, and was worth it. Keep in mind, it's long. 175 episodes, but there animes that have run longer than that. Also, there are the ova's and the series is reported to resume, but the date is unknown.

Gad Gaurd. Under-rated, but is good as well. It's a mecha anime, but more story based. Plus, it has cool jazz for it's music. It's on the shorter side with 26 episodes.

Cased closed/ Detective Conan. A person named Jimmy Kudo, solves mostly murder cases, but as a kid. But no one knows that he's the one that really has solved it. What draws me into this anime is the many different ways that someone can murder someone else, and how complex the plan to do that as well. That, and the comedies moments the show has as well.

Monster Rancher. Now dated but is in similar style to pokemon, and digimon. If you liked them, you like monster rancher. And if you don't, then don't watch it.

Gad Guard looks sick, that

Gad Guard looks sick, that and Puella Magi are on my list.

Evengelion is amazing, I really really should have remembered to put that in my list. I watched it all the way through, then went through all the episodes in one day afterwards just to completely get it.

End of evangelion (the movie) kinda sucks though. It makes a few good points (even the yogurt scene makes an important statement), but allot of it is random made-up-as-we-went crap.
