Yeah, I'm not even that excited for Sprites now... sure, may change when they are finally released etc, but to be honest, the hype has been built and built and built around these critters, but now, if they're not released either tonight or next Wednesday, they've become nothing more than a bad joke... I'll play them, because I want to, but I have a horrible feeling that they'll not be worth the wait anymore.
Excitement to Disappointment
All I know, is that sprites will get here when they get here. I don't like TOO much change because most of the good change comes with bad ones behide it.
People can't be happy with anything. Yes, they announced them too early. Yes, this caused too much hype.
But if they hadn't done that, the forums would be flooded with question like "whats next" "are you working or something" "why developers don't tell us anything" "give us an update" blah blah blah.
the idea is stupid anyway, it'd be better they'd actually been working on content instead of deciding to make content easier.
but at least they gave us a new difficulty level that is exactly the same except with more health and no hearts, right?
Wait.. a level without hearts? One of the cat-thing's powers is to increase the likelihood of hearts dropping. Does that mean one of it's powers would be useless at certain difficulties?
@Fallconn
To my knowledge, they all do. But I didn't say that one gave VH itself. I meant that it is now possible to get VH by equipping two MSI low items and then picking the MSI med quirk on the sprite. (Also the MSI quirk is quite high level.)
I imagine MSI will make vanaderp even easier as you'll be even faster than his turning speed, so he can't staff smash you if you're not on the money with the hug and run trick.
I would love to believe that Dash, Bash, and the tentatively released sprites are pointing to bigger, more difficult challenges - maybe even more achievements and the core opening.
It's very frustrating for anyone who's been with the community for two years to see a developer announce "Expect 'X' halfway through the year!", then "We've pushed the date back to second half of July!", then silence.
It's also frustrating that there is still so much that needs to be finished, but the community can't rally behind something, and when they do, it's behind something that seems very unnecessary. I have yet to be sold on the benefit of Sprites; are they for new players who can't seem to grasp the already easy game mechanics? Are they to draw in a new player base? According to Steamgraphs, Spiral Knights (refresh the page when you get there) doesn't even have enough daily draw to justify data tracking.
There have been so many players that have left, because OOO just simply does not seem to listen to their customers. I understand that the dev group is tiny, but as I've said before, please fix everything (troikas, Jelly Farm I, etc.) before adding more new stuff. It was absolutely insulting when the survey was released earlier this year - why not just go to the suggestions portion of the forum? OOO, are you afraid of another Sun Shard update?
according to nick, after sprites there is a new challenge on schedule.
well we'll all be busy with something untill the next update i guess
Are you saying that MSI VH isn't worth the wait?
HOGBOSH!!
