Can some thing be done about the damn beggers in this game? I swear EVERY time I go to haven I get whispers and messages from people I've never met begging for Cr and Ce, personally I worked for mine, I've never begged for help, and it's getting really frustrating at the frequency of it.
and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's everytime I go to haven, sometimes I even get begged whilst I'm in the arcade area! it's annoying!
well it's not that I don't like helping people, it's more it's just rude, it's not like it's in general chat asking for help, I couldn't care less about that, it's the whispers, distinctly getting in your face asking how much Cr/Ce you have to give them.
I was just hoping that maybe there was an addon to block whispers from people not on guild/friends list etc but I suppose this isn't WoW xD
So I was hoping to borrow 7000 crowns, if you will. I promise that I might pay you back double to-morrow.

Some Defender Elite said that they were a new person in Spiral Knights. He wanted me to give *Gulp* 3k CE and 400kcrs. I refused and he started to spam me with requests. Messages like "Plz gift me cuz im new!!!! :(". When I said No, he started saying "racist. ur so racist. im repoting u".
As if I'd care if he would since I actually didn't do anything bad.

I've only begged for mats before, and thats my noob days. Well, not beg, I asked, and they were like,"Sure, have all the Green Shards you want!"
But beggars are annoying, so my plan is to almost never have money in my pockets at all times.
Grind, make stuff, wait for mist, repeat. If annoying beggars continue, apply Strike Needle into affected area and fire without thought. Contains wheat.

There are beggers in all MMOs. I went to Kapp'n's Island recently and was begged for Bells by a guy with the "50 hours of gametime" badge. The nerve!
The main difference is that in many games you usually have to friend people to send them private whispers.

Beggars don't really pay attention to prestige badges as much as they pay attention to those full Skolvers with the Arcane Halos and those Divine Valk Wings.
I know the feeling. It was bad when I reached Tier 3 in SK but now it's getting worse. I just ignore them for good and if they continue, just report them for Spamming. If it's extreme then my trusty Argent Peacemaker comes and Handy and Samson soars like the wind!

Some guy was begging for a sword and a gun the other day.
It was a slow day in the town square, the JK runs were bad and I was a little sick of farming arcade runs.
Listening to abba's "Take a chance on me" made me generous so I gave in, went to the nearest alchemy machine and made this guy a "Flourish" and a "Firotech".
I gave them to him more than gladly, knowing that I now enabled him to begin much in the same way I did when I started this game, no, not because someone gave me my starting weapons, but rather because they were the first two weapons I got my hands on through recipies and alchemizing.
Just yesterday I see this guy again, making the exact same request.
I have been had....but mark my bloody words.

Play the game more, beg less.

I like to idle in haven with my arcane salamander + prismatic wings set and collect friend and guild requests. Little do they know, I'm actually broke and I own more costume sets than weapons.
You'll like spiral knights more if you laugh at those that ask for money instead of letting them get you worked up.

also some people try to play this as free as possible so even though Ele passes are only $6 some people don't even want to spend that, I do cause I think they game is really enjoyable, and after the patch I think it's gonna be of a higher benefit, but we'll see

Not sure what you mean. Most of the requests I get are from guilds that need help supporting their guildhall/beggars, so it relates to the subject.
The bolded, sectioned-off text in a comment is called the Subject Field.
There was a game I used to enjoy a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, where you could 'attack' other players to set their character into a bloody death animation that was purely cosmetic. I joined that game a few months after they took it out, though from what I heard and screenshots seen it was the best thing to scare off beggars. Ever since I saw that piktur of a beggar getting cut in half and their guts falling out I always imagine it whenever I see a beggar, and smile.

All of these random trade requests, and then all of a sudden a whisper "gift me 10k ce or il report u" and i said "no" and then "reported" and then i said "idc..." and then "enjoy your ban" and i said "hahaha..." and then "utrex your so dumb and stupid and broke give me 10k ce" and i simply ignored. <<< very important tool.
When it comes to ignoring, it's your best friend.
Also, if it's clear someone is spamming the wazoo off everyone and decreasing their fun with the game, you could try a report about "Not stopping when asked." (Okay, you ought to ask first.)

SOmeone was asking me for a powerful gun. I was really broke that time, and the only unbound gun I had was a Frost Gun. I gave it to him, then... :)

Tell them you need a valk wings that cost 30k ce and ask if they have 30k ce you can borrow.

And if they keep asking you, just keep asking them telling them it's not a lot of ce. Please and so on...
Or if you have an alt laying around somewhere, take your alt and beg them for half what they ask. If they ask 500 cr, ask for 250 cr... :D

I did a little bit of merchanting in my 3 star days. I bought a lockbox for 7k crowns, then sold them for 7.5k crowns. Got around 4k crown profit before I ran out of lockboxes.
Anyways. Onto begging. I afked on my account for like 45 seconds to pee, and then this guy in proto spammed up my chatbox wanting like 7 five star weapons. I was like, «Hell no», and he was like, «I need to join this really epic guild». Seriously, does he think I'm his supplier? God.
Yes, I also had bad experiences in RotMG. This guy kept sending me trade requests for T11 weapons, and that was quite lethal when I was killing Hermit. I got down to very low hp points, so I was going to tp to my alt on the beach, when-tada-trade request blocked my teleport screen. There was many tears and anger that day.
Somebody was begging for 1k crs. He started to get mad at everyone. He begged for 1k crs, so I gave him 1 crown. I asked why he kept on begging for 1k when he only needed 999crs. He started to say "PLZ! GIVE ME GEAR LIKE URS. I GIVE U BEST 1 STR WEPON!"

I used to tell them to go earn money.
Then I used to click on them and ignore immediately. After 700+ the list forgot any new ones I added the moment I closed the SK window. (I figure it's fair, not a bug, they have to store the potential million somewhere. Hm, I'd offer my harddrive to store my million ignores. The weird bit is that the number at which it forgot new ones wasn't fixed.) Anyway...
Sometimes I start telling random strangers/nearby friends a true story: When I was new, someone I'd seen around a few times gave me 1kce. "For not begging." they said. I also got a cool stranger hat from them. :)
All I ever asked people was if they'd help with fighting monsters. Those that looked like they could stomp them good. :)
I got that help, even tabbing when I said I couldn't go (I was awed!), and a lot of gifts, no idea why. These days I'd like to return something, but I wouldn't want to help a beggar, or someone who turns out rude and ungrateful. Where do I find the right people?
In any case, the best thing since sliced bread is trades no longer being thrown in my face. I now just don't react to beggars at all, mostly.
(Having my own AH in the Guild Hall helps too. I wish Guild Halls had an allowed/friend list.)

Become a hipster. Even with full inspect on ALWAYS, I have almost never had someone beg me for stuff. Well, I mean aside from the average conversation with some random wanting that goes like this:

Though the most recent time I had a rather insistent begger demanding materials from me, I blocked them. Well, what do you know, he could still spam trade requests to me. Seerusly, OOO?
Maybe it's because I blow all my money on weapons instead of accessories that beggars ignore me...

if someone begs, and someone gives them the money they want, then you can be sure that they will beg again. stop giving beggars money and they will (hopefully) stop begging. newbies begging for mats they need for crafting is ok though in my opinion

(Btw, I'd not give materials to beggars either. I might give them to someone who asks to buy them, though.)
I think this update will help to take care of beggars.
Not completely eliminate them, mind you. But now "I want 100 crowns!" will sound silly when they can just go play the game. Right now, there is a huge chance that they'll lose 100 crowns instead of gaining it, so asking for moneys so they can advance their gear and thus make money for themselves is perfectly rational.
Sorry, There Is Nothing You Can Do About It, Just Ignore Them.

since new update will take away lift energy thing there should be less because they do not have the excuse of not doing runs or missions. also i find if u ignore them it usually works.
