to be honest i think pets are bad in games but if they are done well and dont get in my way when i play then ill be just fine, but id much prefer a boss of some sort as vana is getting so boring to the extent i wanna go play different games, i only come on to do 10 vanas a day then its done, i mean im actually helping other people get defender elite so they can still equip there 5* i need new things to hit with my DA, so yeah and also the DA back cant be against the wall bug would be awesome update, but i disagree with a new revive system, this system is already very nice, and sharing heat is even better because it lets me help out even more, if i cant do this then i might aswell move on to a different thing, but also doesnt mean i will leave yet, i will try it before i judge it, i am open minded 3 000's excite me.
scrap battlesprites and make new boss/levels.
Say pal, I was hoping that you could scrap most of that humanoid body that you've been developing and grow into an octopus.
throw away the battle sprites will not give back the time used to make this addition...
we can do is provide some focus for them to follow
throw away the battle sprites will not give back the time used to make this addition...
People don't understand dev spent lots of time on this... And throwing 100-200 hours of work just "because I don't want it" won't happen...
"scrap battlesprites and make new boss/levels."
This only makes any sense if you invent time travel and send the dev team back to when they started working on Sprites. They're almost done, let them come out first and then ask for more new stuff. Or ask for it after this stuff is done.
As people say, you shoulda have complained back in January. It is now 5 days (99% sure) from release, and as Shamanala says, they ain't throwing away their work.
Seriously, last year over half the threads in suggestions were on pets. Now, are you seriously saying«Nope, don't need them, don't like them, add other sstuff.» And anyways, even after the release, they won't be following that up immediatly with something as big as a new boss. They will need plenty of time to fix the 2 million bugs/glitches/unbalances there definitly will be.
Saying "I don't want this. Remove battlesprites now" won't happen at all. What Shamanala said. The team spent 7 MONTHS just for the battle sprites. >_>
Mhmm.
Scrapping 7 Months of a Project wont happen. Even Putting on hold would send at least half the community in uproar.
You're getting New Bosses since the Sprite Tutorials seem to have some.
The new rev system seems ok to me. You'll get 3 Revives a day (1 Free, 2x 50 Energy out of Steam pack).
Also that the revive item is dropped through-out the clockworks, so you may get more revives if you are lucky.
I think it'll help people try and stay alive, or realise its better to return to Haven than being stubborn.
That said, 50 per Revive is much better on devilishly hard runs that rocket the cost to 1000 to rev.
But I digress that Im looking forward to the Update more than most.
@shyguarder:
"...What Shamanala said."
he only wrote two sentences, but one of them was copy and another sentence was based on mine
why he takes all the credit? >_<
I honestly don't want pets in the game. So it is a good thing we will never get them. What about the battle sprites update?!
1. Implying it will ever be released
and
2. implying that they are pets.
So what if you feed them and they fallow you around? They are machines infected by the who knows what in the core and given life. That doesn't make them pets, if any thing they are still just robots just with flesh now.
When I first saw the 3 battle sprites I looked back at the new monster we got, the fat flying fiend who attacks in a short straight line, and then I wished we could have clockworks or even better, boss floors where we fought and killed the sprites.
Imagine them as the center piece for some nice new tier 3 levels. Minerals for gate construction can make the second t3 stratum a set of boss levels for fire beast, a poison fiend and something creative for the sphinx spirit. Mix in a little advancement of the story line, some good situations for team play/strategy, and have it pay something like 8000 crowns from d25-d28. Could also have some new music scores made for the 3 boss levels. If the Design Team was feeling compassionate to its players maybe design a new boss token which requires some ratio of all 3 dead sprites which will let you get the old shard bombs from brinks.
Killing a dragon, sphinx and a masked phantom with my friends and guildmates in some new tier 3 levels sounds a lot more fun. It would bring a lot more enjoyment for people to kill these sprites then going to FSC for the thousandth time using weak a pet which attacks a few times per minute. I fear and feel remorse for the Spiral Knight player base for the vast fsc grinding that will be done and the fsc funds to feed the week pets. I just wish Three Rings had the same sort of remorse and feeling for Spiral Knight players. Their use of (7 months) limited resources could have been spent on an opportunity to expand and bring some relevance to the arcade.
I overheard an older knight saying it is a terrible waste of time to write on the forums because if Three Rings/Sega does not know what is wrong and what has driven away so many of its players, then they will fail.
I would like to think if the players can heard then Three Rings would not fall into pitfall after pitfall
Thank you for reading
--------------------------
On a personal note FSC is the only substantial tier 3 place to fight in terms of number of monsters and length per floor.
Regardless of party size fsc takes 3-4 minutes per floor, pound out 6-12 per day, week after week for the last 2 plus years and that is the situation of Spiral Knight's end game players who were stubborn enough to not retire. When I first went to the Unknown passage, the four people in the team fought in that last room before the elevator for around 30 minutes perhaps because of the thirst for more combat or the distasteful thought that ~2000CE worth of FSC grinding was just used for 3 reskinned Snarbolax floors. There was more excitement and skill needed fighting tier3 Lockdown players then what we just did.
So when you are handed a fat flying fiend and you see a juicy dragon, what option would you rather take? 3 attacks in a short straight line? or something that flies and uses projectiles with aoe explosions, defensive buffs and claws? Personally I'd go kill the dragons, sphinx and masked phantom.
Oh yeah just max 5 days until Battle Sprite release but let's ask OOO to throw away half a year of work and make a boss because apparently DM bosses don't count. It's not like we could just run DMs on Elite difficulty, we need tokens and stuff so we have an excuse to farm the feces out of the boss stratum because we want all token items so we have an excuse to rant about how lazy OOO are.
Dear Fruitx,
A. How do you look back on something you first discovered?
B. I personally like the idea of the Battle Sprites and you're opinion is not the only one that OOO has to listen to. Listening to your opinions alone will likely not dig them out of "the pitfall they're in". If they want to try something new with their game, no matter how much we disagree, we like it or leave.
P.s. Please keep in mind stating that the Battle Sprites were a wasted opportunity by OOO is completely subjective (especially while they're not even bloody out yet).
Thank you.
Point B, you are absolutely true, absolutely subjective, the playerbase of any game is an aggregate of many people around the world with different levels of education, age, culture, resiliency and health. The playerbase is not a hive mind.
FSC is the place to go for tier3 players for the past 2 years. FSC over and over.
Spiral Knights has a decline of players since May of year 1, had an uptick of population during steam and since had more hemorrhage then gain.
Is this true statement? Where are the numbers? There is no direct evidence available to outsiders, only Three Rings has player population data.
But think of rational players doing FSC over and over for +2 years. It is not a stretch of the imagination to see how they could be bored, how they could see this game as no longer fun, or for them to question why they are doing this still and if their time could be best spent elsewhere.
Factor in the business model of "Take it or Leave it" that you suggested, and it would further a hypothesis that the hemorrhaging population of players is possible and is actually acceptable.
There are two things which makes this a wasted opportunity.
We are reminded constantly to not expect much because Spiral Knights has a small staff and limited resources.
There are hints that the players are bored of +2 years of FSC grinding.
Each patch is an opportunity to address lack of content and a stagnant story line. If resources and manpower are scarce, each patch that fails to address this can be called a waste.
It is a matter of priorities. The playerbase has vast array of opinions and the designers has their priorities. The patches they produce show what their priorities are and what they value. It just looks like they are ok with subjecting its players to more FSC grinding.
I'm comfortable with having this discussion and your words show you care a lot about this game which is great.
to the extent i wanna go play different games
might aswell move on to a different thing
Well then just lea-
but also doesnt mean i will leave yet, i will try it before i judge it
What is the whole purpose of this thread
Also please type in proper sentences, because I find reading every part of a sentence, separated by commas, to be very, very irritating and hard to read, I mean like seriously, there's like one full stop in that entire post and...
TL;DR: Let's get this straight: You're not the only one who's expressed concern over the new systems, you're not the only one who has been asking for new bosses since forever... And that DA charge bug? Old news too. :|
(I apologise if I sound derpy, more irritated than normal, or something)
