Should bombers in vana start using a Deadly Splinter Bomb or a Scintillating Sun Shards bomb instead of a shivermist buster?

Should bombers in vana start using a Deadly Splinter Bomb or a Scintillating Sun Shards bomb instead of a shivermist buster?

This has been a big discussion between me and a friend,

I believe they should start using deadly splinter bomb and scintillating sun shards bomb instead of shivermist buster,
Because of the more dmg (piercing) and you don't have to be so close to him, but the down side is for people with a blitz but that shouldn't be a problem for them I still think you should be able to charge an attack with it and do some dmg with out being hit, but overall using these piercing bombs Instead of the shivermist buster will do much more dmg in my opinion.!

Thoughts anyone?

I may have been gone for a while, but I don't remember Shivermist being used for its damage.
Is that the new meta of this game? What that added recently?

Assuming vana and his orbs don't bug how the shards are deployed( I've never tried shards on vana), then yes, that seems reasonable. Just drop a VV before you start spamming shards as poison's debuff will cause more damage than any other bomb ever will.

To any experienced Vana-goer, rolling with just Blitzes is faster than Blitzes+shiver as you don't have to spend moving around Vana. That takes a lot of time, really.

well

u could use the shard bombs but usually carry a vaporizer bombs series or 2, mainly i have a loadout or 2 that has both a shivermist buster, a stagger storm/voltaic tempest and they are usually with a Dark Briar Barrage and a Polaris. mainly u need at least an element bomb so any vaporizer bomb series types mainly shiver, however ash of agni not really useful so stick with shivermist/voltaic/stagger/ venom for stuff like slags, gun puppies, jellies and then 1 piercing bomb for trojan. i would kinda say forget the shard type bombs like splinter/ sun shard because after the update they kinda stink before they where good and powerful now its basicaly u need to place them fast next to each other just so you can hit something so basically your better off with the Dark Briar Barrage or carry a blitz/callahan incase.

That is true duke shiv isn't used for its dmg but for its help for others to dmg but I'm implying that if we don't use shiv and use the piercing bombs, more dmg would clearly be done to vanaduke.! I suppose it is clearly up to the bomber if that prefer to do more dmg or help out.! But in this case I'm talking about dmg or even the best way to do it, if they should bring piercing bombs and others have blitz or the old shiz and blitz

zeddy did shardbomb vana successfully on a solo, and seeing how much time did it take, well, take a nitrome or a BAB.

Why take nitronome when Dark Briar Barrage has the type advantage?

You can:
DBB/Nitronome for raw damage
Venom Veiler to increase damage of blitz
Voltaic Tempest. Deals damage, and if you time it right, it can prevent Vana from dashing, just like shiver

I don't think that's a valid debate... It's like trying to figure out if a hammer is better than a screwdriver. They're used for two completely different things. You use Shiver to get control over Vana. When you have control over Vana, the fight goes smoother.

If you want the fight to go faster, 4x blitz is definitely better than 3x blitz and a bomber.

Even I would have to admit that shards are pretty crap on Vana, and they're unusable past the first phase unless you're solo or your teammate is also sharding. This is because hitting Vana past his orbs with shard bombs takes a particular form of kiting that no other weapons benefit from.

If you'd like to contribute nto a non-bombing team with damage bombs, go for DBB/Nitro. Alternatively, use your bombs to fight slags. That being said, sun shards stun, and stun is nice, if a bit fiddly.

For reference:
Vana using DBB and Nitro.

Vana using Deadly Splinter and Deadly Shard.

I love shards

If your team is competent and experianced enough to sustain their own survival well, then go for it! I personally have done a bombs only duo vana, and I did most of the work using the Scintillating sun shards. The utility that the bomb offers is mostly lost, apart from the status, but it is very helpful to have vana stunned.
