So most of you probably know the steam workshop, but for those who don't, here's a quick explanation.
If you know the steam workshop, feel free to skip this part.

The steam workshop is a feature for some games offered by steam (if you don't know what steam is, google it), which, in most cases, allows players to up- and download mods, skins, custom maps and more, mostly for singleplayer games. However, for a few games, the developers choose maps and items from the workshop and add them to the game. In fact, some games (eg TF2) only recieve such community-created content in updates.

Now, imagine spiral knights got an own steam workshop. The devs could stop designing new items, all they'd have to do is think of stats for workshop items and release them to the test servers (same applies to new maps, heck, even new mobs), which'd leave them with a lot of time to focus on the important things like more story or new bosses.

there was another one like one week ago.
anyway, ok, but it's not likely. there are lots of dumb guys out there that want OP weapons and checking everything would be a waste of time. and you don't want devs to waste time.

Well.

I agree there should be a workshop out there for SK, even just to inspire the devs.

@Thunder

Sorry, I just signed up to the forums which is why I have no idea what has been posted already :/
Anyway, the players who design the items don't get to choose the stats, that'd remain the dev's duty.

1: SK has a very small dev team, this would be a lot of work for them.

TBH we really don't need it

TBH we really don't need it RIGHT NOW. We should for now focus on expanding the game. When/if we get a large out of game dev community formed from steam then we should make it. For now though let us focus on the game, and not things for it.

Of course establishing a steam workshop for sk would slightly delay other projects the devs are currently working on, however, once we'd have a workshop, those projects, aswell as new ones, could be finished way faster. Believe me, the workshops, especially those content of which gets implemented in the game, are incredibly popular.

P. S. @Klipik sry for not searching this topic on google (I assume that's why you linked the guide), anyway, do you happen to know if the developers have decided something regarding steam workshop? After all, this seems to be a rather popular suggestion...

If they had said something, everyone would link that instead of the other threads about this.
