So most of you probably know the steam workshop, but for those who don't, here's a quick explanation.
If you know the steam workshop, feel free to skip this part.
The steam workshop is a feature for some games offered by steam (if you don't know what steam is, google it), which, in most cases, allows players to up- and download mods, skins, custom maps and more, mostly for singleplayer games. However, for a few games, the developers choose maps and items from the workshop and add them to the game. In fact, some games (eg TF2) only recieve such community-created content in updates.
Now, imagine spiral knights got an own steam workshop. The devs could stop designing new items, all they'd have to do is think of stats for workshop items and release them to the test servers (same applies to new maps, heck, even new mobs), which'd leave them with a lot of time to focus on the important things like more story or new bosses.
there was another one like one week ago.
anyway, ok, but it's not likely. there are lots of dumb guys out there that want OP weapons and checking everything would be a waste of time. and you don't want devs to waste time.
