Ok well this idea came to me when an anonymous player was selling a Barbarous Thorn Sheild. His had a Shadow UV on it. I have a curse medium UVed Barbarous thorn sheild. I realised that if you look that the both sheilds regularly without going into inspect they look exactly the same. There is no way to tell what variant a sheild has without going into inspect.. SO my Idea is this.. If a sheild has a variant it should look like it has a variant.

For Example: A grey owlite sheild with Shadow Maximum. The sheild should have a darker look to it if it has a Shadow UV.
A Crest of Almire with Freeze High.. This sheild should have a lighter look to it..

The intensity of the UV should also affect how intense the UVed look to it is and im my belief this will make costumes look better with the right UVs.

good; maybe too many textures; suggestion

It's a good idea. It may not be practical, if it requires the loading of too many textures, for example in Haven. This thread is a suggestion, so please move it to the Suggestions forum (by editing the thread and choosing that forum from the menu).

Except we can have multiple UVs of varying strenghts. What if the shield has shadow + freeze?

A different approach would be changing the textures based on the amount/strenght of UVs, regardless of the type.

Well they're doing something similar to that with Sprites. Your sprite changes depending on which ultimate version of each skill you choose.

The problem I see is that you have 11 different variants on armors/shields and 8 different variants on weapons, each of which can have 4 different levels, and up to 3 different variants. That's a LOT of textures to add to EVERY item in the game. I could see maybe having an accessory that can be placed on armor that changes depending on the armor's variant(s), but I don't think it's possible without having a lazy "Staple on this symbol to represent this variant" all over the place.

I do like the idea though.
