Is it because the core is becoming weak and it's slowly going to die? And it can't power our stuff so mist is going away?
Why are you taking away mist energy from the game? :O
Story wise i believe that (if you've been on the test server, and gone into the Lab) the engine that they recovered from the Skylark is generating enough power to run both the lab and the elevators at the cost of sucking up the constant supply of mist energy that floats around Sanctuary.
That would explain why mist energy suddenly disappeared as well as the cost of elevators since there is another source providing the energy for them.
While I'm not entirely sold on this no more most thing, that's actually a really cool and logically justification for getting rid of mist energy. Kudos to OOO for thinking up some good backstory
Or it could just be retconned so that the core doesn't, and never has, produced Mist Energy.
I blame the people who kept suggesting they take away mist(or give them more mist) and get rid of elevator costs.
^ It's not just those who suggested it. I see it all the time; new players who get put off by the daily limits, the ridiculous CE prices to upgrade gear and quit because of it. It does more harm than good.
Frankly the removal of elevator costs only makes more sense story-wise to me... why on eart-er... cradle would the gremlins make it so we can power all of their stuff?
As for the removal of mist, with elevator costs out of the way and energy just about pointless: Why would we even NEED mist? Doesn't fic that it breaks the story, though...
... our armor short circuited?
I always thought the Gremlins were pulling a Gwyn on us.
Using the Energy from the elevators (that are probably already self-powering given the nature of some of the tech...) to power their contraptions and eventually crack open the Core... or power their weapons...
I believe HQ actually dismantled the original energy engines moving the elevators and replaced them with spinning snipes.
Orbs are their..... have you seen nibblers on Futurama?
