...does that mean that The Core is going to open soon? Or EVER? I really want to know when the Devs are going to open the Core so we can see what's inside, the fate of the Recon Team, and if we ever repair the Skylark and get off of Cradle.
So, with this big update coming...
They have to open it eventually. Just because the Core opens doesn't mean it's the end of the game. There are other planets besides Cradle to explore. And we have to know if they eventually do get off Cradle at all, what happened to the Recon Team, etc, not to mention other big characters like King Tinkerzar.
The game can't remain on a cliffhanger forever. The mystery of the Core, the Recon Team, and if the Knights ever repair the Skylark and return home HAS to be answered eventually.
Good sir, look. Developing another set of worlds and dungeons would be like Battle Sprites, except times 25, and about thirty times worse delay. OOO is only so small, even with Sega's support, there's only so far they can go with this.
Hate to burst your bubble, kid, but from a development standpoint, this would be hell to create and would only confuse veterans/break the base into microscopic shards.
So, nope, Core won't open any time soon.
sintag, you had better not making assumption on one's age on forums, ever (ie calling one kid)
bog, other wordls will not be as cradle. as well as we have some hints of what it's inside the core (see sanctuaries), if the core opens it will lead to the end of the game. the core is our prime objective, and it will be accomplished when the game will end.
btw, the recon team is still with us, it's the alpha squad missing.
Opening the Core isn't the end of the game. Remember people, the Spiral Order THINKS the energy inside can be used to power the Skylark. We honestly don't even know what's down there; it could be almost anything.
Lore that can be expanded on to create content that is difficult without involving the core:
Vog
Tortodrone
Shadow Lairs
The Crimson Order (including King Tinkizar)
Owlites
There are lots of loose-ends Lore-wise, the Core isn't the only one.
Even if one were to open the Core, deal with the dangers that lurk within (if any), find the Alpha Squad and repair the Skylark, one could easily assume that select knights (which would be all of us) remain behind to keep an eye on Cradle; possibly expanding the knight race's home planet to Cradle as a second home. So it's be relatively easy to reach the end of the story without ending the game itself. And of course with replayable missions, loose ends to current lore to tie off and occasional content updates it wouldn't exactly be the end of the adventure either.
There is a great monster in the core. The whole planet was created to seal it up. It's the foolish knights thinking they can manipulate this monster, when, in reality, it wants to kill them all. So therefore, the core's opening WOULD end the game.

Well, we at least KNOW the Core is in development, because of the fact that the Devs have said "coming soon" to the question several times in the past. So they have to be working on it at least.
Autofire and I share a similar view on the core :D!
I think the thing in the core is a form of sentient energy that when it was still rather young found this planet. The Owlits being a primary science/magic society took a great deal of interest into what I will call the "Light" to make things easier on me. Sadly the Light was clumbs, and uncaring. It would often cause many deaths as it exsplored Cradle. The Owlits tried to stop the Light but were almost all killed. That is why we have yet to actually see any.
The primary governments of the world knew that if any thing was going to survive then they would need to seal up the Light. But how?! The only way possible to defeat the Light of course, Darkness.
The Gremlin Tyrany started construction on a way to seal it off and trick it into falling into the trap. The Devilites "democracy" were constantly looking through what was left of the Owlits darker magics and some of their own and came across something to help. After the news of this broke out between the nations the slimes did what they did best. Roll around, and shift through things. Thousands of slimes started sloshing the landscape using their special membranes to collect the needed resources for this task.
After roughly a Cradle year (who knows how long) They had it all prepared. The trap was ready, the Guardian was being summoned and bait was being set.
If it is not obvious by now this "Guardian" is the Swarm. It was chosen out of all the things they could have used to work the best for the job needed. It would consume the energy being radiated from the Light allowing it to survive off of its prisoner.
we had this discussion just a little while ago...
"Well, we at least KNOW the Core is in development, because of the fact that the Devs have said "coming soon" to the question several times in the past. So they have to be working on it at least."
devs having said "coming soon" means nothing other than the fact that they said "coming soon"
this update was a perfect demonstration of the fact, that the devs can be working on things without announcing them and the core is our prime example of an announcement, that hasnt ever actually happened for over 2 years
and i wouldnt be saying this if there were any hints of the core being developed or prepared for release
not that there is no chance of it being in development or release-ready just waiting to be released, im just saying its not likely
not anytime soon anyway, so dont expect to be playing this game still by the time of possible release
this is detailed unreliable information from players perspective
u could also ask the staff and maybe get an official reliable vague "coming soon"(lol)
Will people just stop asking for the core please... It's clear they dropped the idea LOOONG ago. Dropped into the box of "Maybe to be worked on eventually" with the Tortodrone and Vogs.
Why should it be forgotten? It's a big concept, one that OOO has admitted to being in development, and it shouldn't just be dropped. It HAS to open eventually.
I SEVERELY doubt they 'dropped the whole core idea' are you joking? THE CORE IS ONE OF THE MAIN POINTS OF THIS GAME. What do you think we're doing, gathering equipment and strength for? To enter the core. The core is what everything is all about. While it may take them a while to unveil it, I say let them take as much as they like. Making some kind of end-game scenario is something that takes a long time, and I'd like them to do it right. However, they've kept it such a secret, we don't even know if it will be an end-game scenario. e.g they could go in many different ways with the core. They left themselves some working room. As a player since the game was released and before, I most definitely believe the core is on it's way. It's been a quick and surprising two years, they must have done some work on the core. Ideas must have been thrown around. I hardly doubt OOO is just punking us with the idea of a core.
It will come. As soon as you least expect it. The Spiral Order will find a way in.
Core = Tier 4
...just err... putting that out. Might have been said before.
Actually, OOO announced that they'll reveal the core in August 32, 2013.
I was just wondering that you know that thing you obtain form the gremlins that's at the back of the lab I have a feeling that may have something to do with the core
It just feels so typical and cheap. The thing was 'protected' by a single crazy gremlin with an army of outdated robots, almost at surface level.
Doesn't matter that gremlins have bases full of elite soldiers with different kinds of weaponry deep underground.
@Msaad
I see what you did, there.
You realize that this is a mystery for the ages, right? That if they did open the core it'd be the end of days?
Thank you.
