Materials for heat.
I'd like the ability to trade spare materials for heat. It would let higher end players trade out the several hundred beast scales and monster bones for something at least vaguely useful.
Perhaps something like the YPP system for trinket trade ins at black markets. Materials start with a base heat value, as people trade in materials like yellow shards, their heat value steadily drops. If a material isn't traded in, its value rises. This means a drake scale, which would almost never be turned in, would be a large amount of heat. Something that would almost constantly get traded in, such as yellow shards, would dwindle in heat value, leveling out somewhere very low.
I don't think trading them in for heat is a good idea. Let what's materialized be materialized, and what's not, not?
Although you could wind a story around it that everything is a "vessel" for energy of the planet, and that you can dissemble it into it's basic form and absorb it blablabla. Still, I don't think it's a very good idea.
I was thinking a gremlin outcast could collect them in an effort to rebuild.... something gremlins might want to rebuild.

not a LOT of crowns but i've done it a few times in order to afford recipes i didn't have quite enough cash for
