Anyone else nostalgic of how SK used to be?

Retrodes having instant attacks

Knight-humping zombies

I feared wolvers as a noob.

I counted down the minutes until that last mist energy would regenerate so I could do 1 more depth...

The old, simple UI.

...et cetera.

I didn't even play in the Beta - I'm told it held wonders.

I don't know, honestly. During the "old days" (if you're referring to the period with the old UI circa 2011) I barely got to T2 before losing interest. I've never heard of Knight-humping zombies, and the rest of your post sounds like base nostaliga, but I vastly preferred certain elements of the old UI to the new ones. Specifically, I miss the bottom-mounted HP meter with distinct pips versus a linear bar that just looks like it has distinct pips, monitoring your party's energy levels, and having the energy and crown counters visible at all times. I like the other changes, though.

Ahh you missed some of the golden years then if you never heard of the knight-humping zombies. Occasionally one will frisk me nowadays but used to be ~10 per level. It was good but just slightly buggy. Not saying I enjoyed being humped or anything...

I'm fine with the color changes but the location change of everything felt like a slap in the face.

A new T3 boss would've been much better than a needy battle sprite in my opinion.

Well

I missed the time vefore missions, before arsenal stations, where yes, as OP seems to say, everything was harder and more interesting.

Even the devillites.

Ahh yes, the awesome times before missions. Missions should've only been 1 and done at full profit and then half-profit anytime after that so the Clockworks would still be relevant.

I guess no elevator fees will get us back into the clockworks...if I could get back in SK.

Oh yeah, I forgot about missions. They're actually more grindy than the old clearance system, since they force you to run simple levels even if you have the resources to get 5* everything.

Arsenal Stations are actually not a bad idea. They just need to be spaced out more so you can't just steamroll through everything by selecting the optimum gear for each depth.

You can't really judge the crafting system yet, I'd say. I've gotten 4 5* Alchemy Orbs one one Elite Gauntlet run so the CE grind isn't really there anymore.

Arsenal Stations are great for two reasons:
1. It encourages getting more gear and experimenting more as you don't need general purpose gear for the few kinds of stratums there are.
2. It thus encouraged greater energy consumption among players, leading to a greater energy demand and thus more energy purchases, effectively funding the game's development.

You got a ton of orbs because you were playing on Elite. I haven't tried Elite yet, only Advanced, but Orbs are probably going to be crazy rare on lower difficulties. Full disclosure: I've only played one Mission in the new order so far (The 4-2 Frostifur one on solo Advanced) and I got 2 or 3 Sparks, 6 2* Crystals (in groups of 3), and no Orbs. It was moderately challenging with my generic T2 gear and no Sprite.

I agree that Arsenal Stations are cool, but they remove the element of strategy that was present before where you had to actually look at the gate layout and determine what gear will be optimal for the strata ahead. Now you just need to remember to swap out whatever gear you have on for your "FSC/RT/JK steamroll" loadout on the level before a boss. Having stations be placed at every other stratum or even every tier would mitigate this problem.

I miss full Arcade runs.

Only place I can find a 4-man PUG now is the frigging Jelly King. Could have done without them adding Candlestick Keep.

Don't expect that to change. With instanced pickups and no health revives, a 4-man party is basically a solo party where all the monsters have double HP. RIP teamwork.

At Warp Master

I never said arsenal stations were a bad idea. Though it is true that it does make things easier.

And with TeamWork (Yes I must caps), I have always gone solo before, this is basically blocking out what little use group work has.

I'm a damn knight elite, so now I'm going to have to grind those missions for Orbs (Groan). Luckily, I used Chroma gear (3*) for a costume, so I don't have to try and start over. Also got a Dusker Coat from an old competition, collecting dust in my arsenal (Lol, c wat i did ther). So now Im just running missions on Elite mode for crystals and that is that.

miss old leveling

I loved the old leveling system... I would just get a 5* item like 7 levels leeching heat off of all my team mate in a vana run.... the fire crystal thing is WAY to expensive and I really really really really really really really hate it... it costs SO FRIGGIN MUCH to finish a 4* item... plus you have to go back to haven if you're in something like a vana run every single level to heat it.... they should just take out the fire crystals. Hear that Nick! TAKE OUT FIRE CRYSTALS!!!!!!
(and yes, the humping zombies are amazing. I once got one to hump one of the barrier things that stop them.....)

They just killed Spiral Knight

I came back on spiral knight a month ago and i really wanted to make my stuff. I was plaining SL and farming vana with friends. But since the patch had been introduced, many of my friends want to leave the game, and my pleasure goes decreasing each time i play again at Spiral Knight. I don't want anymore making my stuff.
We can't rev friends : when u are in a party fighting hundreds of monsters and u see ur teamate falling for the second time, you know you will finish the stratum on your own. And your fridn ll be complaining without you to read what he is saying.
Battle sprites are nice : battle sprite is a quite good idea, this is not the issue i am experienced. But the whole new system is the thing i dislike.
Having our own loots : Perhaps is it a good idea regarding to the economy of the game, but in a party you dont see what your friends are picking, you dont know if they have pills, you dont even know if they have a vitapod because of the useless health team menu..... It is like you are playing on your own. This system encourages me much more to solo stratums, not to do them with friends. Another bad point : in 2nd level of vana (depth 25), we are all used to separate the team for us to farm on our own each room. But at the end, we are running in each rom to loot our drops. This is not what i am looking for in a game. There are 8 rooms and we MUST go in each of those 8 rooms. Dont you find this stupid ? What were the dev thinking at when they decided that ?
Crafting sprite's food : Did the dev even experiment what they created ? I want to have many food on me for me to being able to feed my sprite whenever it needs food. So i must waste time crafting this food one per one ... waiting and reselecting the mat i want to use ... another stupid system...

I played about 5h today to experiment this new update, the only thing i want now is playing another game. And my friends think the same ...

What did you do to our game ?? Do you want its death ?
That's quite sad, that was one of my favorite ... :(

the team-play died

Old players are leaving the game without telling anything on the forum.
I hope they will tell their disappointment.
Why didnt the dev create another game instead of updating our spiral knight ? I really hope this will change. I don't have any pleasure when I am playing. The team-play is dead. Hwne a friend clear a romm on his own to save time, we still have to go in this room to loot the crowns and mats ... And when a teanate die, we can't do anything ... X(

@ Uryell
"Old players are leaving the game without telling anything on the forum.

Give up your hope. Players who have been around a long time know the "I'm quitting" threads are hated and bring down the forum, game and community. They know those threads aren't wanted anywhere. And they certainly won't tell anything on the forum because they know in doing so they become fair game to all the disrespect that can be thrown at them starting with the community beat down, insults and never ending spamming of forum flames to (and not necessarily stopping with) the staff and owners who seem to feel that the players who are their customers are worthless, no-life losers who's opinions are worthless and give the attitude of give us your money then get out we don't want you and we certainly don't care about you and your game.

Teamwork? Don't you get it yet? They shanked the alts. Instead of changing what was causing all those people to have so many characters to play with at once and quickly become mega rich, enabling them to mass a fortune and gain in-game power, they messed with all. You see, it is better for the business of the game to allow users to have multiple accounts they MAY pay on then to pay staff to figure out how to defeat cheaters. And I'm sure you understand that blocking an ISP# of a cheater on a shared network of a high school or Starbucks might prevent thousands of paying customers the ability to log on to the site at all. So, they didn't make them cheaters. They gave us 3 characters per account and allow 3 accounts per computer instead. And they allowed the same ISP# to play by signing onto their accounts Steam accounts which they encouraged us to get. (My guess was to sell us other games through Steam and watch our gaming activities through Steam.)

And please remember, if you give people an inch they WILL take a yard, mile and trip to the moon if they can. They will apply macros to their team of main and 3 alts. They will (I'm not saying how) turn that team of 4 into 8 and all the loot and extra heat goes to the main. The power; buy guilds of butt kissers, loan peeps things for the never-ending personal debt of the favor, use alts to prove their view points on issues and do other deeds of general puppeteering.

So, I'll tell you my disappointment in this game. It's the side of the game who's people aren't acting quiet right.

Edit to add while my head is on the chopping block: Danielle, you need to stop disrespecting your customers and being so condescending towards them in public arenas such as seminars and interviews that you flaunt online.

Well

I think i well understood what you said ... Because, in fact, I am french.
Then, what you said is "The new update won't kill the game, because it is already dead". I don't really agree, this game remained fun (before the update of course...) And we can still have fun, but much less than before ...
And, whatever you said, I still really hope the old players will complain here. They must talk and explain their disappointment. If they dont do anything, the devs wont take care of the "disapopinted people". By not telling anything they let the game they loved becoming something bad. I think the last update is a terrible mistake, and we must help the devs to correct what they did. And I think this the role of each experimented player.

Remember the arcade 'in the Old'en days? It used to be full of people everywhere! Until the mission update. Now the arcade have no point except deposting minerals.

I miss the old days when there was a simple UI and no mission system. That was when the game was at it's finest-- though I love all the new features that it holds, and wouldn't go back. Well, maybe I'd go back just a bit, so I could heat my gear.
