I use the favor mats just to level up when the heat meter is full. Feeding sprites with nomral mats is a better idea from what I see. For example,I gave my drakon ironwood (4*) and it filled like 75% of the meter

The effect may be more usefull at higher levels, when random 5* mats stop working.

the 4* orb will only fill your pet up the same as the 1* mote it wants...
Ya, better throw your mats than crafting the favorite food. Even at level 22 you only require 2-3 5* mats.
