Hey there! Styrka here.

So I'm not really a new recruit, but I feel like I am! No more mist? GASP!

Only...upgrading stuff is easier now...right? I haven't decided yet.

In any event, I have made a conclusion: It's ALLLL about crowns now. Energy is an after thought, from what I can see. Sure, I'll need to pony up and by orbs eventually, but for now...

...Anyways. I have a set together that is far from perfect but works for basically every Boss-themed dungeon and, to an extent, every stratum even. I'll spare the details though.

What I want to know, however, is what is the best way to make crowns? I know that seems like an obvious answer, but for the longest time, I spent 5 minutes a day logging in, making a shock burst brandish and cashing it in for 17k.

That was the plan.

Now, it sounds like I'm going to have to start hitting up the Jelly King and Roarmulus and maybe even Snarby to make some dough, or is sitting around waiting for tier three arenas better?

Ideas? Suggestions? Complaints?

The best option is to have 100+ friends and jump between them so you don't have to wait for the arena yourself.

Try searching Google for "spiral knights forum earn crowns". You will find many, many threads. Some things have changed, but many things probably have not. For specific data on mission payouts, try the Lancer Knightz mission data. It's possible that the old mission payouts correspond to the new Normal or Hard payouts. We don't know yet.
