With the new addition of battle sprites, and the only way to craft food for them to level up with is to use minerals, why not make them tradable? It can be a new way for knights to make money or whatever their hearts desire. Knight 1 has some spare dark matter because he does not have a maskerwraith, so he gives it to knight 2 in exchange for crowns, materials, energy, or another mineral. Problems of many people are solved. Some knights could even make it their "job" to go into the clockworks and get minerals which they trade for crowns on the surface. Or not. Probably not.
This way, knights can simply get the mineral of the largest size like they used to, and trade it for another mineral that they need that another knight happened to find in a larger quantity.
Make Minerals Tradable
Why can't you just do a gate run, find an area of minerals and invite the person / people who want minerals?
@Juances Aren't the food items bound? I'm not entirely sure... Food items also take materials and crowns to make, which newer players may not have. That's right, exploit poverty.
@Skyguarder Because you can only invite people that are your friends/guildies(right?), and you make no profit(except for doing the run, of course)
Only the food you get from rank missions are bound so you can just make other food and trade it.
1.Go to a boss gate.
2.Do it.
3.Repeat steps 1 and 2

I wanna buy minerals for the same price of selling...
selling minerals has no point ! and meaningless!
please GM's read this.
Instead of trading the minerals, you can turn them into food and sell it that way.
