So what do I do with energy now?

With elevator costs gone, and alchemy priced on a different system, what do I do with all this energy?

As far as I know, these are the options:

Treasure gates or Danger Rooms at 3 energy each - I will ... but oh how long it will take to use it all up!
Mecha Knights and Turrets at 5 energy each - Let something do my killing for me? But then what do I do?
Unbind all my equipment - But ... I need that to fight things.
Buy things at the Supply Depot - Trinket and Weapon slots are the only things I can see buying. But I have a bunch already ...
Trade it in for Crowns/Other - Maybe if the price goes back up.
Give it to someone - Maybe. Not you, don't ask.

Are these the only options, or can you guys think of some other (hopfully better) ones?

If these are the only options ... OOO is going to have to find a new way to make money soon. I can't see people buying large amounts of energy for any of these reasons.

I haven't studied the new economy in detail, but my understanding is that energy will be used primarily at the Supply Depot, to buy things needed to heat-level, craft, evolve sprites, etc. Why doesn't it seem that way yet? We were given a bunch of extra supplies, to keep us happy and to jump-start the new economy, and we haven't burned through them yet. Also, it's possible that too many rarities are dropping in the Clockworks. That can be tuned later, of course. In fact, a cynical person might say that Three Rings is being very generous during this transition period, with the intent of making things scarcer later.

As I said, I don't perfectly understand what's going on, so this is semi-informed speculation.

Energy as a shortcut?

I like to think that removing energy from elevators, crafting, etc is a step toward making the game less pay to win.
Energy would still serve those who start playing the game, like it, and want to jump a ahead to having higher star gear and face more challenging content.

It's true that promos sell well, but I think most people use them as an excuse to buy energy, while also getting something as a bonus. Unless you can buy just the promo content without getting a bunch of, what I'm going to call significantly less-useful, energy, this might change. There will always be people who will buy no matter what, but can those people support the entire game?

I don't think this game was ever pay-to-win. You could pay to take a shortcut, or most importantly you could pay to play more often. Now you're only paying for shortcuts. But if you take too many shortcuts you run through the content way to fast.

Did you think about that? Care to enlighten me? The price of energy will go back up, if that's what you mean. But that's only because people will be buying less of it. Energy is no longer needed in the game economy. Everything can be achieved through work alone. In some ways this is good, but it also means that a hardworking playerbase would cause OOO to go broke.

On the other hand, this is the approach that games like Warframe are taking. So is this game moving towards a model that makes it's money primarily off of lazy players? I always wanted to pay so that I could play more often (ce) or as much as I wanted (elevator pass). I don't want to buy the end-game content, I want to earn it by playing the game.

The only thing I can currently see myself paying for is more expansion missions. But I'd like to be able to buy them with all this left-over energy.

Rarities don't seem all that rare right now. I've started a brand new character though, maybe it will feel different with that perspective.

Good point with the keys. People will still buy those. And that reminds me that I still have to kill the Red Roarmuli.

Once the professional gold farmers from China knows that SK has lifted the mist system, they can come in and farm the crowns all day long with bots. Trade chat will be spam with adverts every 60secs for selling crowns or CE for real life cash etc etc. Hyperinflation will set in, the world will end....ok ignore the world will end part.

Haha! I suppose it is possible to write a bot for this game, but it would actually be fairly difficult. You're more likely to see human gold farmers. I'm sure there were some before who just used multiple accounts.

Has anyone found Advanced orbs in JK runs? Wondering if I should save my CE hoping two more Advanced orbs drop, or just burn the CE. I've done a few JK runs and some Arena runs and no Advanced orbs.

No but I have found an elite orb and those 5 star ones on elite. In that room on the second floor. For orbs just farm RT or clockeorks for orbs on Elite.
