Well the 2011-02-28 update was quite big too as well as 2011-05-17 update
let's compare.
the only comparation possible is with the implementation of missions, which destroyed the arcade, added new scenario and lore, and kept track of player's progresson.
this one revived the arcade, slew down progression, cut off mist, re-done alchemy and leveling, and added battle sprites.
nah, there is no comparation. this one is the greatest.
In discussing this update with my friends, I refer to it as Spiral Knights 2.0.
(One of my friends tried SK once, but was put off by the energy system. I'm hoping to entice him back.)
Thunder, Could you tell me just how this patch revived the arcade, because I still have not used the arcade very much after it.
I consider the reworking of energy, alchemy, and heating to be far, far more important than some cut-rate Digimon. By the way, what are we going to call this update, anyway? I suggest The Condensing, since in the old, now retconned lore crystal energy was a rare formation caused by mist energy becoming so dense it condenses into a solid form.
Yes. This is the most significant change to SK since Shadow Lairs being added.
Energy and Pet Update is concise, descriptive, and unambiguous.
Even the mission system doesn't compare to this.
knightveil, you'll see that not all of the minerals you need are in FSC. arcade is waaaaayyyy more profitavle in terms of minerals, especially treasure vaults, which now have a sense.
Pretty much. Removing one of the core mechanics of the game, replacing it, tweaking drops, crafting and heating and adding pets? It changes the game more then missions, which changed the game quite a lot.
IMO the biggest part of the update is not the battle sprites but the removal of mist energy.
After the update I thought this was a whole new game!(Well atleast in the mechanic section)
Yes.
